Bill de Blasio’s Pick For NYPD Oversight Board Linked To Group In Cop-Killer Video

” The lawyer who chairs the New York City agency responsible for investigating police brutality allegations has ties to the federally funded legal-aid group featured in a cop-killer video.

Richard Emery, chairman of the city’s Civilian Complaint Review Board and his own civil-rights law firm, told The Daily Signal that any perceived conflict of interest is absurd.

The Bronx Defenders, which received at least $1.5 million from the Obama Justice Department since 2009, says on its website that assistance from Emery’s firm, Emery Celli Brinckerhoff & Abady, “makes the work we do possible.” The Daily Signal first reported the federal grant last week. “

De Blasio Is A Superb Mayor, Says Taxpayer-Funded YouTube Videos

” The mayor’s taxpayer-funded p.r. machine has spit out 250 YouTube videos since he took office — including some slickly produced messages that look a lot like campaign ads.

Complete with voice-overs, soaring music and interviews with New Yorkers waxing poetic about Hizzoner, the videos are created by former de Blasio campaign workers now employed by City Hall.

“ I feel like Bill de Blasio and [wife] Chirlane [McCray] have brought the love back to New York City,” an unnamed woman gushes in one video while waiting to tour Gracie Mansion three days after his inauguration.

Another video celebrates his first 100 days in office with staged testimonials from New Yorkers, including one by a carwash employee applauding the mayor’s signing a paid-sick-leave law.”

The Party Of The Rich Flogs Income Inequality

” Back when I was a kid, I used to think Republicans were the party of the rich — white guys who belonged to country clubs and drove Fleetwoods.  Of course, that was long before I heard of the likes of George Soros, Bill  Gates, Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs and Larry Ellison — white guys who fly Gulf Streams and have mansions in Gstaad.  (Well, Buffett lives a little more circumspectly.)  Or went to work in Hollywood, land of Jeff Katzenberg, David Geffen, Oprah Winfrey, etc. There’s rich and then there’s REALLY RICH, if you know what I mean.  And a fair number, maybe the majority, of the latter are Democrats and profess to be liberals or progressives or something.  (And there’s Fidel Castro, who is evidently a billionaire, and professes to be a communist.)

These days, when everybody’s insurance agent or accountant drives around in a Mercedes because interest rates are so low and why not, when it comes to true conspicuous consumption, when it comes to really being the true modern plutocrats, the Democrats are now the party of the rich — Sheldon Adelson excepted, of course.

So  when I watched the broadcast of the inauguration of New York City’s new mayor Bill de Blasio with all the talk of income equality and two New Yorks blablabla, all I could do is snort — that is after checking out the cut of the expensive topcoats on De Blasio and Bill Clinton. Good schmeck, I believe they used to call it  in the Garment District.”

Reading The Tea Leaves: An Historical Republican Opportunity

” Tuesday’s results were not good for folks living in New York City or Virginia. The former will be saddled with a communist sympathizer for a mayor, and the latter will have to suffer with having a crook for a governor. The most that New Yorkers can hope for is that Andrew Cuomo prevents Bill de Blasio from finally bankrupting the city. The most that Virginians can hope for is that the law finally catches up with Terry McAuliffe.

For those of us who do not reside in either place, however, there is a silver lining. Ken Cuccinelli ran a terrible campaign until very late in the game; the Republican establishment failed to give him the requisite support; and the government shutdown infuriated the federal workers living in Northern Virginia, causing them to turn out for the Democratic Party. The good news, however, is that, if he had had a week more, Cuccinelli would nonetheless have won. His surge in the last week of the campaign was a function of his decision to make Obamacare the issue on which he ran.

Had Cuccinelli won, there would be panic in Washington, and it might even have affected the White House. But he lost, and Barack Obama is nothing if not vain. This is a man who cannot admit that he made a mistake. Anyone else would have dumped the Attorney General who brought us Fast and Furious. Anyone else would have cleaned house in the State Department after Benghazi. Anyone else would have made Kathleen Sebelius jump off a cliff.”

The accompanying illustration says it all : ” If you can’t see freedom , you suck.” So what does that say about the GOP in recent years ? All they can sell is their souls to the lobbyists .

Sandy-Battered Rockaway Boos Bloomberg At Parade

” “For the politicians to come down here and try to take our celebration and make it their thing … it’s disgusting.”

At the end of the route, Bloomberg thanked the Sanitation Department, said, “This was a great day for the Rockaways,” and abruptly jumped in his car.

Bloomberg wasn’t the only politician crossed by parade-goers. .

Revelers heckled Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer after he cheered through a bull horn, “Let’s hear it for the Rockaways.”

Public advocate and mayoral contender Bill de Blasio’s crew was also lashed after a staffer chanted through a megaphone, “Mission accomplished. Thanks, Bill de Blasio.” “
