Me, Myself, And I

Me Myself & I

” President Obama, speaking to an audience of mostly young people celebrating India’s Republic Day in New Delhi on Tuesday, told the crowd, “I realise that the sight of an American president as your chief guest on Republic Day would have once seemed unimaginable.  But my visit reflects the possibilities of a new moment.” He pointed out that he was the first American president to participate in the country’s Republic Day and boasted, “And I’m the first American president to come to your country twice!”

The president went on to refer to himself an astonishing 118 times in the short 33-minute speech, touching on injustices in the United States and in his own personal life.

Obama told the enthusiastic crowd that he and Michelle have been strengthened by their Christian faith. “But there have been times where my faith has been questioned — by people who don’t know me — or they’ve said that I adhere to a different religion, as if that were somehow a bad thing,” Obama said.

He added that “too often religion has been used to tap into those darker impulses as opposed to the light of God.” He cited as an example the attack three years ago on a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. The American president, who is suing Catholic nuns to force them to comply with Obamacare’s birth control mandate, told the crowd of Indian young people that “every person has the right to practice their faith how they choose, or to practice no faith at all, and to do so free of persecution and fear and discrimination.” “

Rand Paul Releases Own State Of The Union Speech

http://dai.ly/x2f7tcf

” After President Obama gave his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, Senator Rand Paul released his own State of the Union speech online.

Paul starts by saying, “All is not well in America,” and from here he outlines what he thinks is wrong in the country.

The first thing Paul says is needed in America is “new leadership.” He does not mean get rid of the president, rather this is a call for a limit to the number of terms congressmen and other high ranking officials can serve. Currently, the U.S. has 11 people in the House or Senate who have served 35+ years as political leaders. Paul says by eliminating the limitless number of terms these leaders can have, new blood will flow into Washington, bringing fresh and new ideas.”

‘Brummie’ Is The Least Attractive Accent

” A quick analysis of English dialects shows that there are roughly as many in the British Isles as there are in the whole of North America – including Canada, Bermuda and Native American dialects. The same categorization would, in North America, result in there being about one dialect per 10m people; in the British Isles there would be one for every 1.3m. Britain is highly peculiar in its linguistic variation, and the cultural contours associated with these differences make a small country feel large.

First impressions of unearned features, such as accents, still have an impact on success, in employment, social life and elsewhere. New YouGov research looks at public opinion towards 12 of the main accents of the British Isles, revealing clear winners and losers, at least in terms of what is seen as attractive.

The Birmingham accent, more specifically ‘Brummie’, has lost the battle of appeal. In net terms it scores -53, 20 points below than the second-lowest: ‘Scouse’, the accent of Liverpool, on -33. “

Report From Lima Climate Conference: Al Gore Preaches Hellfire And Redemption

” Former star of stage and screen Al Gore arrived at COP-20 early Wednesday morning to give one of the opening speeches at an all-day conference put on by the Chinese delegation on Making the Future of Cities Green. I got there a few minutes too late hear him, so made sure I was early to hear his big talk at 1:15.

It was scheduled for one of the COP’s two big plenary meeting rooms. I arrived at 12:50. The UN security officer guarding the door told me that the official session was over and the Cusco Room was now closed. I said, What about Al Gore’s speech at 1:15? He said that there was nothing until 3 PM, but when I pressed him, he went and got his list of the day’s events in the Cusco and Lima Rooms (which are actually very large tents–the whole COP is being held in very nice temporary structures erected on the grounds of Peru’s Pentagonito). Sure enough, there were the Climate Reality Project and Al Gore listed at 1:15.

The former U. S. Vice President arrived early, but did not start speaking until 1:30. That may be because there weren’t many people in the very large room.  By the time he began to speak, perhaps half the seats were occupied. More people came as he continued talking. At the end, he got a polite round of applause. Such are the indignities of being a former movie star.

Gore’s talk was an update of the slide-show immortalized in the sci-fi classic, “An Inconvenient Truth.” But not an update that replaces its numerous false and misleading claims. For instance, Gore’s show still contains a slide of the discredited hockey stick.”

Search as we did , we couldn’t find any video of Al Gore’s poorly attended speech . There is even a Youtube channel devoted to COP-20 Lima that is bursting with videos from the conference , but no AlGore … curious .

We tried Daily Motion , Vimeo , Youtube and LiveLeak with various search terms and all we got were years-old videos from past conferences . Even COP-20 Lima’s own website is devoid of Mr Climate Change’s Speech . See for yourself here .

Although he is described as “the most important guest of COP20” in the official announcement that he would be attending the conference on the COP20 website , those in charge have not seen fit to publish his speech .

It would appear that the former vice-president , energy consumption hypocrite and major carbon credits profiteer has jumped the shark . Since we couldn’t find any video record of his current speech , and by all counts he parroted the usual line straight from his “documentary” we have included a complete version of “An Inconvenient Truth” as a companion piece .

NJ Officials Couldn’t Have Been Prepared For What 9-Year-Old Competition Shooter Had To Say About Proposed Gun Control Bill

” Speaking before the New Jersey Law and Public Safety Committee in Trenton, N.J., on Thursday, 9-year-old competition shooter Shyanne Roberts spoke in opposition to a proposed bill that would further limit magazine capacity to 10 rounds.

In her speech, which earned thunderous applause from the audience, she presented the simplicity and common sense nature of the pro-gun argument in a way only a kid can.”

“ I am not a ‘gang banger or domestic terrorist’ as a certain vocal supporter of this bill claimed two weeks ago in the Star Ledger,” Roberts said. “This bill, if it becomes law, will severely impact me and a million other gun owners.

” The 9-year-old girl explained that she is a 4th-grade honor roll student and competitive shooter in multiple styles with numerous local, state and national sponsors.”

“ I have worked and trained very hard to get to the level I am at and if A2006 becomes law, I will be forced to choose between giving up on a very great and promising future in a sport that I love or asking my dad to move to another state. I will not be giving up my sport.”

She said many of the firearms she hopes to use in the next level of her young competitive shooting career will be made “illegal” if the proposed gun control bill, known as A2006, becomes law.”

This video presents young Miss Roberts in action …

If you like what Shyanne has to say and what she stands for you may want to visit her Facebook page and give her a like or perhaps help fund her shooting competition , we all know how expensive that can get , by purchasing a T-shirt .

Sadly , the original goal with the sale of the T-shirts was not met and so production was not initiated but we have included the link anyway as we have a feeling that after this young lady’s stellar performance in front of the pols gets recognized , that business will soon be booming .

The Blaze has more on Shyanne’s knock-em dead speaking performance as does NorthJersey.com including much more biographical information on the young champion :

” Shyanne and her father, who live in Gloucester County, came to Trenton to speak against a bill that would limit the magazine capacity of firearms to 10 rounds, down from the current 15-round maximum. They and other opponents of the measure said legislation should target criminals without affecting legal gun owners. Similar arguments were made against several other gun-control bills the Legislature passed last year, most of which were ultimately vetoed by Governor Christie.

The bill passed the committee along party lines, 5-3, after more than three hours of testimony.

Shyanne, who has won several national sponsorships, has placed highly in several shooting competitions, including a second-place finish at the New Jersey State Ruger Rimfire Challenge. Her father said she entertains hopes of someday competing in the Olympics. “

Rep. Gowdy’s Defense of the Enforce the Law Act

As you watch this stellar performance by one of politic’s shining stars try to imagine John Boehner or Mitch McConnell addressing their peers with such passion and courage … It can’t be done . Spinelessness oozes from their every pore . Gowdy on the other hand can easily be envisioned as a compatriot of the Founders . Gowdy just exudes leadership .

Oh for a Congress full of men like this … Trey Gowdy is our modern day equivalent of Patrick Henry. One can very easily picture him standing at the podium exhorting his fellow statesmen to action and proclaiming “give me liberty or give me death” … God bless Trey Gowdy and please Lord , send us some more just like him .

What is most amazing to consider though , is the fact that at one time this country produced men of Gowdy and Henry’s quality in spades . Now they are looked upon with awe as something so seldom seen as to be almost unrecognizable to the average citizen . My how far we have fallen …

Perry: ‘Time For A Little Rebellion’

” Texas governor Rick Perry broke through as a serious presidential hopeful Friday with a spirited speech to a cheering crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Perry brought the audience to its feet with a call to bring the successful conservative policies of red state governors to the national level.

Perry took jabs at targets including New York, California, and the Department of Education, noting that common-sense governance has been absent not only from blue states but from Washington, D.C.

It’s time for a little rebellion on the battlefield of ideas,” the Texas governor said, paraphrasing Thomas Jefferson.

While left-leaning states face worsening economies, Perry pointed to the progress in Republican-led states such as South Carolina, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and Florida.”

Justice Clarence Thomas: ‘Northern Liberal Elites’ Worse Than Segregated South

” Supreme CourtJustice Clarence Thomas, who was born and raised in Georgia at a time of high racial tension, said race relations are worse now than decades ago — and that he actually experienced more grief from elitists in the supposed anti-slavery North than in the South.

Justice Thomas made the remarks to a group of students at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Fla., the Daily Mail reported.

“ The worst things that have been done to me, the worst things that have been said about me, [were] by northern liberal elites, not by the people of Savannah, Georgia,” he said, the Daily Mail reported.

“My sadness is that we are probably today more race and difference-conscious that I was in the 1960s when I went to school,” he said, the Daily Mail reported. “To my knowledge, I was the first black kid in Savannah, Georgia, to go to a white school. Rarely did the issue of race come up.” ”

Supreme Court Justice Predicts Return Of Internment Camps

Scalia Internment camps

” On Tuesday Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was quoted, in a Washington Examiner article, discussing the possible the return of World War II style “internment camps”:

Justice Antonin Scalia predicts that the Supreme Court will eventually authorize another a wartime abuse of civil rights such as the internment camps for Japanese-Americans during World War II.

You are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again,” Scalia told the University of Hawaii law school while discussing Korematsu v. United States, the ruling in which the court gave its imprimatur to the internment camps.

The local Associated Press report quotes Scalia as using a Latin phrase that means “in times of war, the laws fall silent,” to explain why the court erred in that decision and will do so again.

“ That’s what was going on — the panic about the war and the invasion of the Pacific and whatnot,” Scalia said. “That’s what happens. It was wrong, but I would not be surprised to see it happen again, in time of war. It’s no justification but it is the reality.”

The discussion of “FEMA Camps” has long been attributed to the over-active minds of conspiracy theorists, but when a Supreme Court Justice speaks on the issue, it would behoove people to listen. ”

This Is What Happens When A Kid Leaves Traditional Education

” Logan Laplante is a 13 year-old boy who was taken out of the education system to be home schooled instead. Not only was he home schooled, but Logan had the ability to tailor his education to his interests and also his style of learning, something traditional education does not offer. As Logan has mentioned, when he grows up he wants to be happy and healthy. At a TEDx talk in 2013, he discussed how hacking his education is helping him achieve that goal.

Currently about 3.8% of children ages 5 – 17 are home schooled in the US. In Canada, that number drops to about 1%. This is a number that is expected to continue growing in both countries as more see the limitations of our current education system. Also, studies done in the US and Canada show that home schooled children out perform their peers from both private and public schools.

In my view, home schooling is much more likely to create a creative, adaptive, and forward thinking person who is less conditioned to think only within the small confines of a crumbling system. Does this mean it is for everyone and that one can’t turn out that way through standard education? No, I simply feel the chances are far greater with homeschooling.”

Probably The Best 2nd Amendment Speech Ever

Published on Jun 30, 2013

” Army veteran and cop tells it strait. A flawless speech ! “

Sen. Mike Lee On “What’s Next For Conservatives”

Below are just a few highlights to Sen Mike Lee’s recent address to the Heritage Foundation as provided by Townhall.com.

” It has been quite a month in Washington.

It began with our effort to stop Obamacare — a goal that all Republicans share even if we have not always agreed about just how to pursue it. And it is ending with powerful practical proof of just why stopping Obamacare is so essential.

This law is unaffordable and unfair… and it’s getting worse all the time. As of today, President Obama’s policy is to fine any American who does not buy a product that his bungled website will not sell them.

And they call us unreasonable.”

Senator Lee is a man to be reckoned with .

” What do we do next, not only to stop Obamacare… but to advance a larger, positive vision of America, and craft a practical plan to get us there? What’s next for conservatives?

That is the question I would like to try to answer today.

One of conservatives’ defining virtues is our insistence on learning from history. And to help answer the question, “what’s next?,” I think the most instructive history that conservatives can learn from today is our own.”

He understands better than most in the Republican party that the answers lie in the history of the party and the free exchange of ideas and not in some sort of revisionist theory that requires the right side of the aisle to engage in fratricide and play yes man to the left side all in a fruitless attempt to get the media to refrain from calling the conservatives names .

” In The Conservative Mind, Russell Kirk observed that “conservatives inherit from [Edmund] Burke a talent for re-expressing their convictions to fit the time.”

That is precisely what the conservatives of the late 1970s did. The ideas that defined and propelled the Reagan Revolution did not come down from a mountain etched in stone tablets.

They were forged in an open, roiling, diverse debate about how conservatism could truly meet the challenges of that day. That debate invited all conservatives and as we know, elevated the best.”

As the struggle for the direction of the Republican party is played out , it’s comforting to know that at least a few of our duly elected officials “have a clue” even while admitting that the old guard remain clueless to all but how to get re-elected .

” Together, that generation of conservatives transformed a movement that was anti- statist, anti-communist, and anti-establishment… and made it pro-reform.

Contrary to the establishment’s complaints, conservatives in the late 1970s did not start a “civil war.” They started a (mostly) civil debate.

Because of that confident and deeply conservative choice – to argue rather than quarrel, to persuade rather than simply purge – the vanguards of the establishment never knew what hit them.

The bottom line was that in 1976, the conservative movement found a leader for the ages… yet it still failed.

By 1980, the movement had forged an agenda for its time… and only then did it succeed.

That, my fellow conservatives, is the lesson our generation must take from our movement’s “revolutionary era” – and the enormous and exhilarating challenge it presents to us today.”

It is a strong , moving speech that shows Mike Lee to be a man to look to for the future of liberty , choice and sound policy . Read the whole thing .

Obama’s Defense Of Obamacare And Its Failed Website

” What the President actually said doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. He claimed that “the product [i.e., Obamacare] is good,” and that the law was “a good deal.” But the law is NOT a good deal for the millions of Americans in the process of losing their current health insurance—who don’t have a website to go to where they can browse alternative options. And even if they did, it still wouldn’t be a good deal for them; many will have to pay more in premiums due to the law’s new benefit requirements.”

‘Obama Hypocrite Of Century’: Full Interview With Controversial Irish MP Clare Daly

This is an interview with Ms Daly from July . Watch it , but do yourself a favor and watch her speech at the bottom first . It is a truly inspiring piece of oratory and the world could do well with more people of Ms Daly’s courage that dare to speak the truth .

And here is the speech that she gave in the Irish parliament during which she dared to speak what very few have had the integrity to do . We certainly have little in common with Ms Daly politically , yet we must acknowledge courage and truth wherever they may appear .

FIRED-UP GOP REP. TREY GOWDY TAKES APART ARGUMENT THAT VOTER ID LAWS ARE RACIST DURING HOUSE HEARING

” Known for his fiery tirades on the House floor, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Tuesday blasted the Justice Department’s assertion that voter ID laws are discriminatory to minorities. Using South Carolina’s voter ID law as an example, Gowdy dismantled the race-based argument against such legislation in about 5 minutes.

“South Carolina passed a voter ID law in 2011…and in 2011 one-third of South Carolina’s congressional delegation was African-American,” Gowdy said. “I may be mistaken, I suspect that South Carolina’s percentage of African-American members of Congress may have been the highest in the country in 2011.” “

TRANSCRIPT: FIRST HOUR OF RAND PAUL’S FILIBUSTER

” In the first hour of his filibuster over the nomination of John Brennan, Sen. Paul spoke 9,024 words, enough to fill 15 pages as a standard Word document. A transcript of the first hour was provided by Sen. Paul’s office and appears below in its entirety:

I rise today to begin to filibuster John Brennan’s nomination for the CIA I will speak until I can no longer speak. I will speak as long as it takes, until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found to be guilty by a court. That Americans could be killed in a cafe in San Francisco or in a restaurant in Houston or at their home in bowling green, Kentucky, is an abomination. It is something that should not and cannot be tolerated in our country. I don’t rise to oppose John Brennan’s nomination simply for the person. I rise today for the principle. The principle is one that as Americans we have fought long and hard for and to give up on that principle, to give up on the bill of rights, to give up on the Fifth Amendment protection that says that no person shall be held without due process, that no person shall be held for a capital offense without being indicted. This is a precious American tradition and something we should not give up on easily. They say Lewis Carroll is fiction. Alice never fell down a rabbit hole and the White Queen’s caustic judgments are not really a threat to your security. Or has America the beautiful become Alice’s wonderland? ‘No, no, said the queen. Sentence first; verdict afterwards. Stuff and nonsense, Alice said widely – loudly. The idea of having the sentence first? ‘Hold your tongue, said the queen, turning purple. I won’t, said Alice. Release the drones, said the Queen, as she shouted at the top of her voice.

Lewis Carroll is fiction, right? When I asked the President, can you kill an American on American soil, it should have been an easy answer. It’s an easy question. It should have been a resounding and unequivocal, “no.” The President’s response? He hasn’t killed anyone yet. We’re supposed to be comforted by that.
The President says, I haven’t killed anyone yet. He goes on to say, and I have no intention of killing Americans. But I might. Is that enough? Are we satisfied by that? Are we so complacent with our rights that we would allow a President to say he might kill Americans? But he will judge the circumstances, he will be the sole arbiter, he will be the sole decider, he will be the executioner in chief if he sees fit. Now, some would say he would never do this. Many people give the President the – you know, they give him consideration, they say he’s a good man. I’m not arguing he’s not. What I’m arguing is that the law is there and set in place for the day when angels don’t rule government. Madison said that the restraint on government was because government will not always be run by angels. This has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with whether the President is a Democrat or a Republican. Were this a Republican President, I’d be here saying exactly the same thing. No one person, no one politician should be allowed to judge the guilt, to charge an individual, to judge the guilt of an individual and to execute an individual. It goes against everything that we fundamentally believe in our country.

This isn’t even new to our country. There’s 800 years of English law that we found our tradition upon. We founded it upon the Magna Carta from 1215. We founded it upon Morgan from Glamorgan and 725 A.D. We founded upon the Greeks and Romans who had juries. It is not enough to charge someone to say that they are guilty.
