Public To Obama — Cut A Deal On Debt Limit Hike: Poll

” President Obama is sharply at odds with the American people in his refusal to consider any negotiations over raising the debt ceiling, according to the latest IBD/TIPP poll.

The poll, conducted Sep. 28 to Oct. 2, found that 56% think Obama should negotiate with Congress on a plan to increase the nation’s borrowing limit. Just 41% think he shouldn’t.

Obama declared Thursday that “there will be no negotiations,” adding that “you don’t get to demand ransom in exchange for keeping the economy going.”

The poll also found that 51% want a one-year ObamaCare delay as part of a debt deal, something Obama has also rejected, calling it a GOP “obsession.”

Half the public would support a pre-condition that the federal government not increase spending as part of any agreement to raise the debt ceiling.”

Bloomberg: If You Sell A Gun To Your Son, ‘There’s Something Wrong In Your Family

” In a radio appearance on Friday, Bloomberg, a gun control activist and co-chair of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, praised the legislation that is now moving forward in the Senate.  The bill would require universal background checks for most sales of firearms, including those online and at gun shows.

“The only thing it would not cover is if you sold a gun to your son, for example,” Bloomberg told radio host John Gambling.  “Number one, I don’t know how we would ever enforce that if it were the law. So to make a big deal about that’s carved out, so what? It doesn’t change anything.”

“Number two, I would argue if you want to sell your gun to your son, maybe you have a problem in your family,” he said.  “Why don’t you just give—I don’t know if you should have a gun or not, but if you have a commercial transaction of $100 with your son, there’s something wrong in your family.”

We would just point out Mr Mayor , number one … That most guns cost a lot more than $100 , and , number two … that most families are not quite so moneyed as yours . We gun-owners are mostly not of the 1% like yourself and consequently may not be able to afford to just “give away” things , even to family members .

And that’s not to even mention the life lesson taught by parent to child about having to work for things that you want . Your ignorance of the common folk rivals that of the rest of the ruling class in Albany and DC .

Biden: Americans ‘No Longer Worried’ About Economy

” In remarks today at the White House, Vice President Joe Biden said that Americans don’t have the same economic worries they did when President Barack Obama came into office:

Biden Strikes Again

He is right , to a degree … we don’t have the SAME worries … We have countless MORE since he and his boss took over .

A Memo to Joe Biden from the Middle Class

” I guess I qualify.  Though a two-story house in the suburbs has eluded me, I am by no means impoverished.  But therein lies my point — I do not know where I rank economically, at least not down to the dollar.  Furthermore, with a focus on long-range financial independence, it really doesn’t matter.

The most annoying aspects of Vice-President Biden’s debate performance were not his smirks, interruptions and condescending air but rather his numerous references to the middle class.  His chest-pounding blather about dedicating his life to leveling the playing field typifies what makes political discourse so lame and predictable.  Even conservatives take that all-too easy path, a.k.a. pandering, as if unaware that, constitutionally, government’s role is to ensure equal justice under the law for every American, not to promote the economic interests of one segment of society over another.

Middle-class Americans are, indeed, hurting, but not because the rich aren’t taxed enough, rather, the federal government is too big and spends way too much.  To truly feel the American pulse, maybe the vice-president would consider spending some time with those out there who actually punch a time clock for a living to subsidize his so-called noble intentions. ”

Obama’s Tin Gold Ear …

Michael Barone is always worth listening to .

“Who does Barack Obama listen to?

Not Republican politicians. Evidently weeks go by between his conversations with Speaker John Boehner, who determines what legislation comes to the House floor.

Not Democratic politicians. We have it on good authority that he seldom talks to Democratic members of Congress. Lyndon Johnson used to be on the phone constantly, cajoling and inveigling but also on the alert for shifts in opinion. “

Bryan Preston explains why Obama’s economic gaffe (“the private sector is doing just fine”) really matters . He likens it to Bush Sr.’s supermarket scanner moment as did we here yesterday . While Bush’s “gaffe” was largely a manufactured meme , Obama’s is only too real and a true indication of how insular and out of touch this administration is .

It’s certainly of more significance than the price of arugula .

“His gaffe that the private sector is doing fine, though, is different. It will probably dog him from now to November. Here are a few reasons why.

1. It lit up social media. Within seconds of the president making his comment, Twitter went hot with a new trending hashtag: #doingjustfine. That hashtag, usually the province of people tweeting that they’re fine without someone they just broke up with, became an anti-Obama feed and shot to #1 in the U.S.It was probably the hot social media action that forced the president to walk the comment back later in the day. Twitter put the president’s comment directly into the American bloodstream before he even realized that it was a gaffe and could do any damage control.”

Who else but ?

“There are monarchies and republics aplenty, but there’s only one 24/7 fundraising presidency.”

  …. but Mark Steyn .

“Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee a few days ago — that’s 60 years on the throne. Just to put it in perspective, she’s been
queen since Harry S. Truman was president. At any rate, her jubilee has been a huge success, save for a few churlish republicans in various
corners of Her Majesty’s realms from London to Toronto to Sydney pointing out how absurd it is
for grown citizens to be fawning over a distant head of state who lives in a fabulous, glittering
cocoon entirely disconnected from ordinary life. ”

“Which brings us to President Obama. ”

One more taste

” However, there are some cheap seats available. A year and a half ago, big-money Democrats in
Rhode Island paid $7,500 per person for the privilege of having dinner with President Obama
at a private home in Providence. He showed up for 20 minutes and then said he couldn’t stay for dinner.

“I’ve got to go home to walk the dog and scoop the poop,” he told them, because when you’ve paid seven-and-a-half grand for dinner nothing puts you in the mood to eat like a guy talking about canine fecal matter. “

Poll: ” Americans overwhelmingly support Ariz. immigration law, think court should uphold it. “
