” As California prepares to adopt the new state educational standards known as Common Core this fall, more parents are speaking out against them. Now one local mom says she was suspended from her son’s school for doing so.

” I was outraged,” 12-year-old Christopher Duran said.

The boy couldn’t believe it when he found out his mom had been suspended from Mark Twain Elementary School.

” Why would the principal sign a withdrawal of consent to my mom, and furthermore, why would she send the police to the house?” Christopher asked.

That withdrawal of consent, delivered by a police officer, banned Christopher’s mom from school for 14 days. Last week when we asked the school district why, they told us Katherine Duran was disrupting the school.

” It appears went a little too far with regards to how she distributed information at school sites, distributing information to children directly,” Sacramento City Unified School District spokesperson Gabe Ross said last Thursday.

” To blame me and say that I had personally handed a child that information on school property during school hours and disrupting the school. No, none of that is true,” Christopher’s mom Katherine O’Neal Duran said.”

Young People Pummel Obamacare Ads On The Daily Show

Brosurance

” Will keg stands and one-night hookups convince young people to sign up for Obamacare? Two liberal groups in Colorado launched a pro-Obamacare advertising campaign with the controversial messages months ago.

This week, The Daily Show featured the two ads in a segment with correspondent Aasif Mandvi, who interviewed a spokesman from the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative in an attempt to understand why he thought the “Brosurance” and “Let’s Get Physical” ads were effective.”

Americans Opt-Out

” Selling the American people on ObamaCare was always going to be a big challenge. That’s why it was passed all but in the middle of the night. Now, with the number of people who say they will opt out of ObamaCare and pay the fine instead growing – the selling of ObamaCare is only going to become more difficult, not less.

According to Gallup, more people than ever are now saying they will pay the fine, as opposed to enrolling.

… A key to making the Affordable Care Act work as designed is for all Americans to carry health insurance. To ensure this happens, the law stipulates that Americans are subject to fines if they do not have health insurance. When Gallup reminds uninsured Americans of this requirement and asks what they are most likely to do, 56% say they plan to get insurance, while 34% say they are more likely to pay the fine.”

That opt-out percentage is up 9 percent since September .

Man Who Attempted To Sign Up Claims He Was Threatened With Drivers License Being Revoked, Federal Tax Lien On Home

” A man who attempted to sign up for Obamacare online was told that a fine of over $4,000 dollars a year for refusing to take out mandatory health insurance could be taken directly from his bank account, and that his drivers license would be suspended and a federal tax lien placed against his home, according to an entry on the HealthCare.gov Facebook page.

If true, the implementation of Obamacare is going to be a whole lot more draconian than Americans have been led to believe.

Will Sheehan claims that when he tried to sign up for Obamacare and then register to opt out, he received an ominous warning. Sheehan’s full Facebook post reads;

“I actually made it through this morning at 8:00 A.M. I have a preexisting condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and my income base was 45K-55K annually I chose tier 2 “Silver Plan” and my monthly premiums came out to $597.00 with $13,988 yearly deductible!!! There is NO POSSIBLE way that I can afford this so I “opt-out” and chose to continue along with no insurance.

I received an email tonight at 5:00 P.M. informing me that my fine would be $4,037 and could be attached to my yearly income tax return. Then you make it to the “REPERCUSSIONS PORTION” for “non-payment” of yearly fine. First, your drivers license will be suspended until paid, and if you go 24 consecutive months with “Non-Payment” and you happen to be a home owner, you will have a federal tax lien placed on your home. You can agree to give your bank information so that they can easy “Automatically withdraw” your “penalties” weekly, bi-weekly or monthly! This by no means is “Free” or even “Affordable.”

How to Prepare for Life Under Obamacare

” Across the country, governors face two key decisions post-election: do they force the feds to implement exchanges, or do they try to do it themselves, in which case the states have to rush to make them work, to pay for them with higher taxes on premiums, and could see a good deal of political blowback; and do they implement the Medicaid expansion, which will lead to short-term benefit but in the long-term create the need for higher taxes as states’ percentage of payments increase. Governors are generally unlikely to implement the exchanges — at least 20 of them have already said no — and if they are going to expand Medicaid, governors will attempt to use their leverage to extract vastly more freedom for their Medicaid systems, along the lines of what Florida has done, which has already been endorsed in spirit by the administration.

But that’s the decision process that faces the states—what about the ramifications for the rest of us? We talked about it the other night on The Blaze. Here are a few points I’ve highlighted to those with questions about coming policy changes ang how they will effect you: “
