Manchester Man, 95, Fends Off Would-Be Robber With Cane

” A 95-year-old World War II veteran used his cane to fight off a would-be robber in Manchester over the weekend.

Arthur Kamberis said he has been in tough situations before, including climbing down a cargo net 70 years ago on his way to invade Okinawa, but he was still unnerved when he was accosted by a man Saturday morning.

” But damn it, if I’d have had my cellphone, we would have nailed that guy, because the police station is only one block down,” Kamberis said.

Police said they always recommend surrendering goods during robberies because things can be replaced, but people can’t. Despite the attempted robbery, Kamberis said he has no plans to change his routine — with one exception.

” When I go out alone, my .357 Magnum will be with me all the time when I’m alone, because I cannot protect myself other than the cane,” he said.”

Bonnaroo 2015 Lineup Announced By Festivalgoers On Social Media

” Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Billy Joel and deadmau5 have been announced as headliners for the 2015 Bonnaroo festival in June.

The British band will be back performing on the festival’s 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee after bassist Ted Dwane’s emergency brain surgery forced them to pull out of headlining in 2013.

Farm favourites My Morning Jacket, who made Bonnaroo history in 2008 with a 35-song set late into the night, lead the supporting acts, including Slayer, Ben Folds, Alabama Shakes and Childish Gambino.

Among a wealth of British acts on the bill are Robert Plant, Belle and Sebastian, Florence and the Machine and Jamie XX, while Courtney Barnett and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will be making the trip from Australia.

Festival organisers chose the unusual – some might say gimmicky – move of getting their fans to announce the lineup themselves. Instructed to call a free-phone number, each caller was given the name of one act appearing on the bill to share on social media using the hashtag #bonnaroo. “

3-Billion-Yr-Old Ancient Water Tastes Salty Scientist Says

” A team of scientists recently reported finding an ancient pocket of water flowing nearly two miles beneath the surface of the Earth. A member of the team Barbara Sherwood Lollar has admitted tasting the water and describes it as “terribly salty.”

The water dating back billions of years may predate the emergence of complex life forms on Earth and may give clues about the origin of life. It was found flowing through fractures in 2.7-billion-year-old sulphide deposits in a copper and zinc mine near Timmins, Ontario, about 7,875 feet beneath the Earth’s surface.

According to the team of scientists in a paper titled “Deep fracture fluids isolated in the crust since the Precambrian era,” published in the journal Nature on May 15, 2013, the “fluids… can be billions of years old and preserve a record of the fluid chemistry and environment at the time of mineralization.”

The team of scientists from the universities of Manchester, Lancaster, Toronto and McMaster, analyzing the water isolated beneath the surface of the Earth for billions of years have described it as being like “trapped time capsules.”

The scientists say the water is at least 1.5 billion years old and may be even much older, dating back to the time of the formation of the rocks holding it. Nature reports that the scientists were able to determine that the water was at least 1.5 billion years old based on an analysis of the isotopes of natural gases in the water.”

A Defeat For The Muslim Brotherhood, A Model For Winning

” The Muslim Brotherhood was handed a tactical defeat on June 4, 2013 in Manchester, TN. The FBI and DOJ (Department of Justice) appeared at a meeting called by AMAC (American Muslim Advisory Council — Muslim Brotherhood) in Manchester, TN. It was to include a talk by a US Assistant Attorney General and an FBI agent in charge. The meeting was due to a joke posted by a Coffee County Commissioner on Face Book. The DOJ Assistant Attorney General Killian said in a newspaper interview that the joke might be in the category of a hate crime.

Over 1200 people came from all over the US to a meeting in a town of 10,000. The web had buzzed about free speech in Manchester and talk radio chimed in .

In the course of the presentation by Killian, several in the audience began to shout our retorts to him. At first some in audience tried to shush them, but the momentum began to build and the shouted challenges increased in numbers and volume. It should be noted that the shouts were factual and knowledgeable. An example: when it was mentioned how hard it was to be a Muslim refugee: “Free medical care, welfare and scholarships tough to take?” When Killian said that DOJ protected voter rights, the shouts were to the tune of: “You mean like protecting the Panthers in Philadelphia?”

There were also knowledgeable shouts about Islam: “We don’t care about the religion, it’s the politics. No Sharia.”

When Killian mentioned Eric Holder, the room erupted with thunderous boos. People were angry about the Feds. The FBI agent presented a better face, but he got blow back as well. Chants of “Ruby Ridge” and “Waco” rang out. This was a “mad as hell and not going to take it anymore” attitude.”

The people were quite boisterous and there are differing views as to the behavior of the crowd . We provide you with video of the entire event so that you can decide for yourselves .

New SARS-Like Virus Infects British Patient In Tenth Case Globally

” A new virus from the same family as SARS that sparked a global alert last September has been found in another patient in Britain, health officials said on Monday.

The latest case of infection with the new virus known as a coronavirus brings the total number confirmed globally to 10, of whom five have died.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said the latest infection was “a sporadic case” and did not alter the WHO’s risk assessment. It added, however, that the new case “does indicate that the virus is persistent”.

The British patient, who recently had travelled to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, is receiving intensive care treatment in hospital in the city of Manchester, northern England.

The new virus, which the WHO refers to as novel coronavirus or NCoV, shares some of the symptoms of SARS, or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – a coronavirus which emerged in China in 2002 and killed about a tenth of the 8,000 people it infected worldwide.

Symptoms include severe respiratory illness, fever, coughing and breathing difficulties.”
