” Authorities say they’ve charged 19 students, 18 of them girls, in connection with a brawl that broke out at an upstate New York high school.

  Local media report that the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests Wednesday, a week after a large fight occurred shortly before noon March 18 in the main lobby area at Elmira High School.

  Officials say the fight appears to have been planned. The melee led to the school being placed on lockdown for a short period.”

” The federal government’s new facility ,  to house illegal immigrant families surging across the border has been put on lockdown because of chicken pox, with no immigrants allowed to be transferred in or out, a congressman said this week.

  Hundreds of illegal immigrants being kept at the campus of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico, are being treated for and vaccinated against chicken pox after an outbreak, said Rep. Steve Pearce, the Republican congressman whose district includes Artesia.

“ As the FLETC facility reaches maximum capacity, I am increasingly concerned for the health and safety of the women and children at FLETC and for the local community. The virus, that has caused two residents to be put in isolation, has halted all departures,” Mr. Pearce said.

  He said he’s asked the Homeland Security Department, which runs the facility, to be available to handle calls from the community.

  The chicken pox outbreak is the latest hiccup for federal officials struggling to gain a handle on the surge of illegal immigrants from Central America this year.”

” Access to the White House complex was halted for about an hour Tuesday after a vehicle followed a motorcade carrying President Barack Obama’s daughters through the gates.

  Uniformed agents immediately stopped the vehicle after it trailed in behind the motorcade at about 4:40 p.m. EDT, the Secret Service said.

  The driver, identified as Mathew Evan Goldstein, 55, was arrested and charged with unlawful entry. No hometown was given.”

” A live round of ammunition found on a school bus triggered lockdowns at two schools in northeastern Connecticut Wednesday while administrators and police tried to determine its origin, school officials said.

  An adolescent who attends Pomfret Community School, 20 Pomfret St., was escorted from the school after a knife was discovered in the student’s locker, said Matt Bisceglia, superintendent of schools. The student was not arrested but may face disciplinary action from the school, he said.”

” More than 200 teens descended upon a mall parking lot in Lauderhill, Fla., called by Facebook and Twitter to a fight that forced the partial closure of the mall Tuesday afternoon.

The trouble apparently began across the street from the shopping center, and grew as word spread on social media.

“I just heard that anybody that had beef with each other is supposed to come over here and fight,” said Frank Francis, a witness to the fight.

” Three people were wounded today when gunshots were fired at Santa Monica College west of Los Angeles. 

A suspect was found in the school’s library and taken into custody. The extent of the injuries were not immediately known, according to police sources.

The college was on lockdown, officials said.

Massive Manhunt For Second Bombing Suspect In Boston Suburbs

Boston Suburbs On Lockdown Amid Terror Search

 

 

 

 

”  One of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing is dead after the killing of a university officer and a shootout with police, and a massive manhunt is underway for the other, authorities said early Friday.

Police are locking down some neighborhoods in Boston and its western suburbs as they search for the remaining suspect: known as the man in the white hat from marathon surveillance footage.

Authorities urged residents in Watertown, Newton, Waltham, Belmont, Cambridge and the Allston-Brighton neighborhoods of Boston to stay indoors. All mass transit was shut down and businesses were asked not to open Friday. People waiting at bus and subway stops were told to go home.

“We believe this to be a terrorist,” said Boston Police Commissioner Ed David of the suspect on the loose. “We believe this to be a man who’s come here to kill people. We need to get him in custody.”
The Middlesex district attorney said the two men are suspected of killing a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer on campus in Cambridge late Thursday, then stealing a car at gunpoint and later releasing its driver unharmed.”
