Photos Reveal Just How Meager US Students’ Meals Are Compared To Even The Most Cash-Strapped Of Nations

What is it? School lunches in the United States stand in stark contrast to the wholesome and in some cases even decadent meals served to kids in other markedly less fortunate nations

Michelle’s American Slop

” Mouthwatering photos of school lunches served around the world reveal even children in Ukraine, Estonia and Greece are treated to delectable meals each day. School children in America, meanwhile, aren’t nearly so lucky.

Whereas a kid in France might be treated to a juicy steak and a hunk of brie, the richest country in the world’s youths are more likely to receive unidentified meat served alongside little more than a starch like white pasta, fries or a roll.

The contrasts between America’s school meals and those in far less fortunate economies are stark and suggest Michelle Obama’s push for more healthful lunches nationwide may not be enough.”

Then we have the French school lunch …

Brie, green beans, carrot, rare steak and pudding of kiwi fruit and apples is served in French schools

” Brie, green beans, carrot, rare steak and pudding of kiwi fruit and apples is served in French schools”

” The first new school lunch standards championed by Michelle Obama have been phased in over the last several school years.

In addition to whole grain requirements, the rules set fat, calorie, sugar and sodium limits on foods in the lunch line and beyond. While many schools have had success putting the rules in place, others have said they are too restrictive and costly.

Backlash against the rules have spawned a wave of social media photos along with the tag #thanksMichelleObama. If these pictures are any indication, schools have responded to the rules by cutting down on portions to reduce fat and calories rather than by using potentially more costly ingredients.

Meanwhile, the widely different meals from Spain, Ukraine, Greece, South Korea, Brazil, France, Finland and Italy are all fresh and wholesome, with fish, steak and vegetables featuring prominently.”

Well , you say , France has plenty of money considering their sky high tax rates … This is so but even near bankrupt countries such as Greece feed their children better than the prisoners of our public school system …

Greek school lunches feature baked chicken with orzo, stuffed grape leaves, salad of cucumber and tomatoes, yogurt with pomegranate seeds and two oranges

” Greek school lunches feature baked chicken with orzo, stuffed grape leaves, salad of cucumber and tomatoes, yogurt with pomegranate seeds and two oranges “

Then there is Michelle’s idea of a healthy lunch …

Thanks Michelle Obama? New school lunch rules backed by FLOTUS have students nationwide tweeting '#thanksMichelleObama' along with photos of meals like this

Skeptics would be well-advised to visit the Daily Mail and see just what the children of the world are fed in such diverse countries as the Ukraine , Brazil , South Korea , Spain , Japan and more … For crying out loud , even Cuban children eat better than American students , look here:

Rice, a chicken croquette, a piece of taro root and yellow pea soup is the school lunch in Old Havana, Cuba

” Rice, a chicken croquette, a piece of taro root and yellow pea soup is the school lunch in Old Havana, Cuba”

Read it and weep as the foreign menus make your mouth water even as the American cuisine does the same to your eyes … For shame America , for shame …

More Robots Coming To U.S. Factories

” Manufacturers will significantly accelerate their use of robots in U.S. factories over the next decade as they become cheaper and perform more tasks, constraining payroll growth, according to a study out Tuesday.

The development is expected to dramatically boost productivity and slow the long-standing migration of factories across the globe to take advantage of low-cost labor, says the Boston Consulting Group report.

” Advanced robotics are changing the calculus of manufacturing,” says Harold Sirkin, a senior partner at the management consulting firm.

A handful of nations, including the U.S. and China, are poised to reap the biggest benefits of the automation wave.

About 1.2 million additional advanced robots are expected to be deployed in the U.S. by 2025, BCG says. Four industries will lead the shift — computer and electronics products; electrical equipment and appliances; transportation; and machinery — largely because more of their tasks can be automated and they deliver the biggest cost savings.

About 10% of all manufacturing functions are automated, a share that will rise to nearly 25% in a decade as robotic vision sensors and gripping systems improve, BCG says.

That’s prodding manufacturers to replace workers. BCG says manufacturers tend to ratchet up their robotics investment when they realize at least a 15% cost savings compared with employing a worker. In electronics manufacturing, it already costs just $4 an hour to use a robot for a routine assembly task vs. $24 for an average worker.”

Japan Students Swap Uniforms For ‘Sexchange Day’

” Students at a Japanese high school switched uniforms with the opposite gender for “Sexchange Day,” an event designed by students.

Fuji Hokuryo High School’s Tuesday event, named for the combination of the English words“sex” and “exchange,” saw 299 students, about 40 percent of the student body, show up for school in sweats and then dress in uniforms designed for the opposite sex for the school day.

” Sexchange Day” was designed by students at the Yamanashi prefecture school and was approved by officials. The students said the event was designed to get students thinking about gender and gender identity issues.

” This is a project for students to observe things differently” Vice Principal Hirofumi Miyashita told the Wall Street Journal’s Japan Real Time.

” Vice Principal Osamu Takano said the school took steps to ensure the student body would be prepared for the experiment.

” We think the students understood the aim behind the exchange. The students who proposed it explained to the rest of the student body the concept behind it at a meeting,” he told the Yomiuri Shimbun. “

New Flying Rescue Robot Can Open Doors To Enter Buildings

” A team of Japanese scientists have developed a flying rescue robot witha device that can open doors to enter buildings hit by earthquakes or accidents, the Nikkei reported Friday.

The robot was developed by Hideyuki Tsukagoshi, an associate professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and his fellow researchers. It has successfully opened an office door and passed through it in an experiment, according to the research team. The robot isdesigned to survey the situation inside devastated buildings.

Flying robots are capable of flying over rubble and uneven ground levels in outside areas. However, they cannot move around easily inside buildings because doors block their way,so they are of limited usefulness when they go to the rescue of people trapped in disaster-hit buildings.

The new robot is flat and rectangular, 60-70 cm on a side, and hovers using propellers onits four corners.

To open a door, the robot uses suction cups to stick to the door’s surface. Then, it pressesits arm with an air bag-like device against the door handle and blows the bag up to open the door. After partially opening the door in this way, the robot uses its propellers’ wind pressure to open it further.

After making enough space, it flies through the door. The research team plans to equip the robot with a small camera so they can remotely control it. “

Popular Burger King Japan Offering Back, Black

” In the roulette wheel that is fast food, Burger King Japan has a strategy when it comes to its new hamburger menu: always bet on black.

The company, whose previous offerings include the “Windows 7 Whopper,” said on Wednesday it will start selling the Kuro Pearl burger and Kuro Diamond burger beginning on Sept. 19. The burgers will feature black buns, black sauce and black cheese in addition to black-pepper heavy beef patties. Kuro means black in Japanese.

The black burgers were first introduced for a limited time by the chain in 2012 and became a hit, outselling all other new products that Burger King offered during the year, according to the company. They were also available for a limited time in 2013.

“ The black burgers sold extremely well because of their visual impact, but people continued to come back for them because of their taste,” a spokeswoman for the company told Japan Real Time.”

You don’t have to speak Japanese to understand the sympathetic tones of the two men observing these dogs who are also disaster victims — and one loyal dog refusing to leave his hurt friend’s side. There is so much we don’t understand about the emotional lives of animals. But we know they can suffer tremendously, and we know they care for each other.

We wish all the people and animals of Japan heartfelt concern during this incomprehensibly difficult time. We know that the people of Japan will respond like these two friends, never abandoning each other in this time of need. Ganbatte kudasai! (“Don’t give up!”) — Global Animal

“Liquidity Is Becoming A Serious Issue” As Japan’s Bond Market Death Goes Global

” While we noted last week the death of the Japanese bond market as government intervention has killed the largest bond market in the world; it is now becoming increasingly clear that the dearth of trading volumes is not only spreading to equity markets but also to all major global markets asinvestors rotate to derivatives in order to find any liquidity. Central planners removal of increasing amounts of assets from the capital markets (bonds and now we find out stocks), thus reducing collateral availability, leaves traders lamenting “liquidity is becoming a serious issue.” While there are ‘trade-less’ sessions now in Japanese bonds, the lack of liquidity is becoming a growing problem in US Treasuries (where the Fed owns 1/3rd of the market) and Europe where as JPMorgan warns, “some of this liquidity may be more superficial than really deep.” The instability this lack of liquidity creates is extremely worrisome and likely another reason the Fed wants to Taper asap as DoubleLine warns, this is “the sort of thing that rears its ugly head when it is least welcome — when it’s the greatest problem.”

As Bloomberg reports,

Japan’s bond market is dead… and so is its stock and FX markets…

The Bank of Japan’s unprecedented asset purchase program has released a creeping paralysis that is freezing government bond trading, constricting the yen to the tightest range on record and braking stock-market activity.

“ All the markets have been quiet,” said Daisuke Uno, the Tokyo-based chief strategist at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. “We’ve already seen the BOJ dominance of JGBs since last year, but recently participants in currency and stock markets are also decreasing as those assets have traded in narrow ranges.”

“ The flows on both the buying side and selling side continue to fall,” said Takehito Yoshino, the chief fund manager at Mizuho Trust & Banking Co., a unit of Japan’s third-biggest financial group by market value. “Falling volatility is a very serious problem for traders and dealers who are unable to get capital gains.”

The effects of the plunge in Japan’s bond market is hardly limited to the land of the Rising Sun …

The US is getting that way as the Fed owns one third of the market…

” And with that not only have the central planners broken the largest and historically most liquid markets in the world but have forced investors into leveraged derivatives positions (in order to find liquidity for their exposure-seeking) which themselves are entirely over-promise (relative to the underlyings) and under-collateralized with any quality collateral. As we concluded previously

Assume tomorrow the real black swan appears and all the liabilities: traditional and shadow, promptly demand collateral delivery. Well, the $11 trillion shortage would mean that risk values of, for example the S&P, would be haircut by a factor of, say, 75%. Or back to the proverbial 400 on the S&P500.

Still think owning real high quality collateral, not of the paper but of the hard asset variety such as gold, is a naive proposition, best reserved for fringe lunatic, tin foil hatters and gold bugs?

Go ahead then: sell yours. “

University Official Arrested For Possession Of 3D Printed Gun

Claims ‘A Gun Makes Power Equal’

” It’s just a matter of time before it becomes commonplace to hear of people being arrested for the possession of 3D printed guns. They exist, and the designs to produce them can be found on the internet, in many locations, free of charge.

Just today, 27 year old Yoshitomo Imura, was arrested in the city of Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan for possession of 5 3D printed firearms. Two of these firearms had the ability to be loaded with live metal ammunition, and fired, thus making them lethal. Police also recovered a 3D printer from Imura’s home, which is believed to have been used to produce these weapons.”

” Police became suspicious, after they discovered that Imura had posted videos of himself firing this gun (Zig-Zag Revolver). An investigation pursued, culminating in his arrest yesterday. One of the posts made by Imura on the video website where his guns are shown being fired said, “The right person should survive even if weak. A gun makes power equal!” “

China Sold Second-Largest Amount Ever Of US Treasurys In December: And Guess Who Comes To The Rescue

” While we will have more to say about the disastrous December TIC data shortly, which was released early today, and which showed a dramatic plunge in foreign purchases of US securities in December – the month when the S&P soared to all time highs and when everyone was panicking about the 3% barrier in the 10 Year being breached and resulting in a selloff in Tsy paper – one thing stands out. The chart below(above) shows holdings of Chinese Treasuries (pending revision of course, as the Treasury department is quite fond of adjusting this data series with annual regularity): in a nutshell, Chinese Treasury holdings plunged by the most in two years, after China offloaded some $48 billion in paper, bringing its total to only $1268.9 billion, down from $1316.7 billion, and back to a level last seen in March 2013! “

Not exactly confidence inspiring Barack , especially when you consider that the Japanese shed billions in US treasuries in December as well . Read more at Zero Hedge .

This Robot Band Has A Guitarist With 78 Fingers And A Drummer With 22 Arms

” All-robot band Compressorhead has some competition. British record label Warp Records will soon be releasing an album performed entirely by a three-piece band of Japanese robots called Z-Machines — the guitarist has 78 fingers, while the drummer rocks out with 22 arms. The band’s creators teamed up with composer Squarepusher initially to simply explore creating music with the bots, but eventually they crafted an entire five track album. “In this project familiar instruments are used in ways which till now have been impossible,” Squarepusher says.

While the additional appendages mean that the band members can play in ways no human can, composing for them involved its own unique set of challenges.”

More at The Verge and below there is a synopsis from the above video listing the “band members” and further information about the upcoming release of “Music For Robots” .

” 78-finger Guitar, 22 Drums, Beyond-Human. Squarepusher and robot band from Japan in Music of the Future collaboration.

Referred to as “an attempt to break new ground for emotional machine music” by its composer Squarepusher, “Sad Robot Goes Funny” features the superhuman prowess of Z-MACHINES, showcasing in particular the stupendous chops of the guitarist playing multiple melody lines with 78 fingers and 12 picks at lightning speed in the latter half of the song.
This makes it a truly groundbreaking piece of music from Squarepusher to open the way for new music of the future.

MACH -Robot guitarist challenging the speed of over BPM1000
ASHURA -Robot drummer that can play the most complex rhythm on 22 drums
COSMO -Robot keyboard player resembling a future life form

Unedited Footage Of The Bombing Of Nagasaki (Silent)

Published on Feb 6, 2014

It then shows the Nagasaki explosion from the window of an observation plane. This footage comes from Los Alamos National Laboratory. I have not edited it in any way from what they gave me except to improve the contrast a little — it is basically “raw.” I have annotated it with some notes on the bombing and what you can see — feel free to disable the annotations if you don’t want them.

‘The Wind Rises’: The Beauty And Controversy Of Miyazaki’s Final Film

” Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises is a lot of things. It’s the final feature-length film from one of the all-time greats of Japanese animation. It’s a gorgeous, Oscar-nominated work that brings prewar Japan to life in ways that have never been seen before. It’s Miyazaki’s most pointedly adult movie, with a slow-burning tragedy replacing the magical realism and cute characters that have made Studio Ghibli’s films appeal across generations. And it’s the most controversial animated movie in recent memory.

That’s because The Wind Rises is a sympathetic biography of a man whose work contributed to Japan’s brutal campaign of imperialist aggression during World War II. Jiro Horikoshi designed the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane that Japan used in Pearl Harbor and countless other assaults; the Zero was feared for the unparalleled range and maneuverability bestowed by Horikoshi’s considerable engineering skills. Although its subject matter is linked to a violent past, The Wind Rises follows in the tradition of Japanese works that eulogize artisanal passion and dedication to one’s craft — it could almost have been called Jiro Dreams of Fighter Planes. “

Whatever you think of the controversy surrounding the subject matter of Miyazaki’s latest film , if you are a fan of his work as we are you are sure to want to see the Master’s “final” film . Everyone who is familiar with his work must have a favorite and goodness knows that all of his films are visually stunning regardless of the storytelling .
For the uninitiated we offer a primer video below containing the trailers for the following Miyazaki screen gems: Spirited Away, Ponyo , Howl’s Moving Castle , My Neighbour Totoro , Laputa Castle In The Sky , Nausicaä of The Valley of The Wind , Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Left out of the collection above is our favorite Miyazaki creation of all … Porco Rosso , so we present you with a trailer (in Japanese) about Porco and his adventures .

If you are under the impression that animated films are just for the young then you’ve never experienced the wonder and awe provoked with the artist’s brush and brought to the screen by Hayao Miyazaki and you owe it to yourself to give him a viewing . You will not be disappointed . Learn more about Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli here .

Japan Bluefin Tuna Sells For Record $1.76 Million

” A bluefin tuna sold for a record $1.76 million at a Tokyo auction Saturday, nearly three times the previous high set last year — even as environmentalists warn that stocks of the majestic, speedy fish are being depleted worldwide amid strong demand for sushi.”

” In the year’s first auction at Tokyo’s sprawling Tsukiji fish market, the 222-kilogram (489-pound) tuna caught off northeastern Japan sold for 155.4 million yen, said Ryoji Yagi, a market official.

The fish’s tender pink and red meat is prized for sushi and sashimi. The best slices of fatty bluefin — called “o-toro” here — can sell for 2,000 yen ($24) per piece at upmarket Tokyo sushi bars.”

Health Officials Respond To Beach Radiation Scare

” An amateur video of a Geiger counter showing what appear to be high radiation levels at a Coastside beach has drawn the attention of local, state and federal public health officials. Since being posted last week, the short video has galvanized public concerns that radioactive material could be landing on the local coastline after traveling from Japan as a result of the 2011 meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi reactors.

Government officials say they are looking into the video shot on Dec. 23 and performing their own sampling of the beaches, but they have found no indication so far that radiation levels were hazardous.

“ It’s not something that we feel is an immediate public health concern,” said Dean Peterson, county environmental health director. “We’re not even close to the point of saying that any of this is from Fukushima.””

U.S. Flies B-52s Into China’s Expanded Air Defense Zone

Guam-Senkaku

” Two long-range American bombers have conducted what Pentagon officials described Tuesday as a routine training mission through international airspace recently claimed by China as its “air defense identification zone.”

The Chinese government said Saturday that it has the right to identify, monitor and possibly take military action against aircraft that enter the area, which includes sea and islands also claimed by Japan. The claim threatens to escalate an already tense dispute over some of the maritime territory.”

“American officials said the pair of B-52s carried out a mission that had been planned long in advance of the Chinese announcement last weekend, and that the United States military would continue to assert its right to fly through what it regards as international airspace.

Pentagon officials said the two bombers made a round-trip flight from Guam, passing through a zone that covers sea and islands that are the subject of a sovereignty dispute between Japan and China.”

The B-52 sortie could certainly be considered provocative by some and as difficult as it is to find common ground with out illustrious leader on most matters both domestic and foreign , we strongly agree with the move as a way to quickly and firmly address the issue of China trying to claim sovereignty where no rightful claim exists .

While not intending to take sides on the issue of ownership of the disputed island chain , the fact remains that the sky above them is universally recognized as , and guided by,  the traditional rules of international airspace . This was an absolutely necessary flight that couldn’t have been flown soon enough . The need to nip Chinese arrogance in the bud is imperative and hopefully the sortie was seen as the shot across the bows that Beijing so sorely needed .

Of course a more cynical individual (who me ?) might think that this was just the latest squirrel sighting , but let us give Dear Leader the benefit of the doubt a assume he has finally grown a pair … at least until Michelle and Valerie get out the scissors .

WikiLeaks Presents The Secret Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP)

TPP

” Today, 13 November 2013, WikiLeaks released the secret negotiated draft text for the entire TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) Intellectual Property Rights Chapter. The TPP is the largest-ever economic treaty, encompassing nations representing more than 40 per cent of the world’s GDP. The WikiLeaks release of the text comes ahead of the decisive TPP Chief Negotiators summit in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 19-24 November 2013. The chapter published by WikiLeaks is perhaps the most controversial chapter of the TPP due to its wide-ranging effects on medicines, publishers, internet services, civil liberties and biological patents. Significantly, the released text includes the negotiation positions and disagreements between all 12 prospective member states.

The TPP is the forerunner to the equally secret US-EU pact TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership), for which President Obama initiated US-EU negotiations in January 2013. Together, the TPP and TTIP will cover more than 60 per cent of global GDP. Both pacts exclude China.

Since the beginning of the TPP negotiations, the process of drafting and negotiating the treaty’s chapters has been shrouded in an unprecedented level of secrecy. Access to drafts of the TPP chapters is shielded from the general public. Members of the US Congress are only able to view selected portions of treaty-related documents in highly restrictive conditions and under strict supervision. It has been previously revealed that only three individuals in each TPP nation have access to the full text of the agreement, while 600 ’trade advisers’ – lobbyists guarding the interests of large US corporations such as Chevron, Halliburton, Monsanto and Walmart – are granted privileged access to crucial sections of the treaty text.

The TPP negotiations are currently at a critical stage. The Obama administration is preparing to fast-track the TPP treaty in a manner that will prevent the US Congress from discussing or amending any parts of the treaty. Numerous TPP heads of state and senior government figures, including President Obama, have declared their intention to sign and ratify the TPP before the end of 2013.”

This has NWO/Statism written all over it . The fact that Obama is trying to skirt the necessary Congressional approval of trade agreements says all we need to know about his administration’s efforts “on our behalf” . It would appear after a very brief , cursory reading that many of the provisions in the latest piece of sovereign renunciation are blatantly unconstitutional , which helps to explain the imperative of secrecy and subterfuge from our “most open , honest and transparent” administration .

This whole treaty , conceived in the smoke-filled back rooms of some old boys network private club , far from the prying eyes of the peons people and their representatives by the Masters of Industry and State is nothing more than a two-fisted power grab enriching the global corporate entity and the transnationalist political figures they bankroll .

” The 95-page, 30,000-word IP Chapter lays out provisions for instituting a far-reaching, transnational legal and enforcement regime, modifying or replacing existing laws in TPP member states. The Chapter’s subsections include agreements relating to patents (who may produce goods or drugs), copyright (who may transmit information), trademarks (who may describe information or goods as authentic) and industrial design.

The longest section of the Chapter – ’Enforcement’ – is devoted to detailing new policing measures, with far-reaching implications for individual rights, civil liberties, publishers, internet service providers and internet privacy, as well as for the creative, intellectual, biological and environmental commons. Particular measures proposed include supranational litigation tribunals to which sovereign national courts are expected to defer, but which have no human rights safeguards. The TPP IP Chapter states that these courts can conduct hearings with secret evidence. The IP Chapter also replicates many of the surveillance and enforcement provisions from the shelved SOPA and ACTA treaties.”

In order for Obama to skirt the Constitutional requirement of senatorial “advise & consent” the proposed TPP and TTIP have to be Executive Agreements and not , strictly speaking , treaties . This ploy allows him to avoid the necessary 2/3 vote of approval from the full Senate . Executive agreements have a long and controversial history in the hands of US presidents .

Having been unfamiliar with the distinction between the agreement and treaty we thought we would educate ourselves a bit and pass along our research for the benefit of readers such as ourselves . Here is how the Oxford Companion To The Supreme Court describes the differences between the two types of agreements :

” Under the Constitution, treaties with other countries require consent of two‐thirds of the Senate. The framers clearly intended joint action of the national executive and the representatives of states in Congress to make binding international obligations.

Executive agreements, unmentioned in the text, are practical alternatives made under presidential authority. They are so ubiquitous in American foreign relations—and sometimes so controversial—that one should distinguish various forms. The vast bulk have some form of legislative approval by statute, treaty, or joint resolution of Congress. For example, the North American and general trade agreements of 1993–1994 were approved by joint resolution. If the subject is within Congress’s broad powers, the Supreme Court accepts the delegation of legislative power and the Senate bypass. “

Franklin Roosevelt , Obama’s presidential idol , was the undisputed master of usurpation through the use of executive agreements , which coming from the man who’s very reign inspired the need for presidential term limits , who attempted to change the very nature of the Supreme Court and who issued orders for nationwide gold confiscation should come as no surprise .

” President Franklin D. “Roosevelt converted executive agreements into primary instruments of foreign relations. He approved the Litvinov Agreement recognizing the Soviet Union in 1933, and the destroyer bases deal of 1940. During World War II, Roosevelt and Truman made secret agreements with allies at Cairo, Yalta, and Potsdam affecting most of the world.”

Some history on executive agreements

” … presidents have had the power to enter into executive agreements with other nations since George Washington’s administration. Treaties are binding on future presidents unless modified with Senate consent; executive agreements are not.

The State Department explains:

As explained in greater detail in 11 FAM 721.2, there are two procedures under domestic law through which the United States becomes a party to an international agreement. First, international agreements (regardless of their title, designation, or form) whose entry into force with respect to the United States takes place only after two thirds of the U.S. Senate has given its advice and consent under Article II, section 2, Clause 2 of the Constitution are “treaties.” Second, international agreements brought into force with respect to the United States on a constitutional basis other than with the advice and consent of the Senate are “international agreements other than treaties” and are often referred to as “executive agreements.”

Let’s look, then, at 11 FAM 721.2 to see on what “constitutional basis” a president might enter into such an agreement.

(3) Agreements Pursuant to the Constitutional Authority of the President

The President may conclude an international agreement on any subject within his constitutional authority so long as the agreement is not inconsistent with legislation enacted by the Congress in the exercise of its constitutional authority. The constitutional sources of authority for the President to conclude international agreements include:

(a) The President’s authority as Chief Executive to represent the nation in foreign affairs;

(b) The President’s authority to receive ambassadors and other public ministers;

(c) The President’s authority as “Commander-in-Chief”; and

(d) The President’s authority to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” “

Findlaw offers even more on the executive agreement , it’s limitations and it’s consequences :

INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS WITHOUT SENATE APPROVAL

” The capacity of the United States to enter into agreements with other nations is not exhausted in the treaty-making power. The Constitution recognizes a distinction between ”treaties” and ”agreements” or ”compacts” but does not indicate what the difference is. 388 The differences, which once may have been clearer, have been seriously blurred in practice within recent decades. Once a stepchild in the family in which treaties were the preferred offspring, the executive agreement has surpassed in number and perhaps in international influence the treaty formally signed, submitted for ratification to the Senate, and proclaimed upon ratification.

During the first half-century of its independence, the United States was party to sixty treaties but to only twenty-seven published executive agreements. By the beginning of World War II, there had been concluded approximately 800 treaties and 1,200 executive agreements. In the period 1940-1989, the Nation entered into 759 treaties and into 13,016 published executive agreements. Cumulatively, in 1989, the United states was a party to 890 treaties and 5,117 executive agreements. To phrase it comparatively, in the first 50 years of its history, the United States concluded twice as many treaties as executive agreements. In the 50-year period from 1839 to 1889, a few more executive agreements than treaties were entered into. From 1889 to 1939, almost twice as many executive agreements as treaties were concluded. In the period since 1939, executive agreements have comprised more than 90% of the international agreements concluded. 389

In the interests of “equal time” , sort of , you can view TPP “news” , what little there is at the Office of The US Trade Representative’s website . Good luck with that .

In closing , and admittedly not knowing as much as we should about this looming shadow of globalism , we are of the opinion that any agreement or treaty related to business and commerce promulgated by the most economically illiterate leader this country has ever had can only be intended to accomplish one , the other or both of two things … most likely both : 1)  further pad the already bloated bank accounts of his corporate cronies through regulation and protectionism and 2) advance the Statist/NWO agenda that drives his trans-nationalist puppet masters through gaining control of the creative process … meaning control of the lines of communication ( internet freedom) and control of property rights (patents , trade marks , etc).

There is surely nothing in this secretive effort that can be described as advancing the cause of the individual and human rights and that is not acceptable from any US president .

World War II’s Surviving Doolittle Raiders Make Final Toast

” Known as the Doolittle Raiders, the 80 men who risked their lives on a World War II bombing mission on Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor were toasted one last time by their surviving comrades and honored with a Veterans Day weekend of fanfare shared by thousands.’

” Three of the four surviving Raiders attended the toast Saturday at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Their late commander, Lt. Gen. James “Jimmy” Doolittle, started the tradition but they decided this autumn’s ceremony would be their last.”

” “May they rest in peace,” Lt. Col. Richard Cole, 98, said before he and fellow Raiders — Lt. Col. Edward Saylor, 93, and Staff Sgt. David Thatcher, 92 — sipped cognac from specially engraved silver goblets. The 1896 cognac was saved for the occasion after being passed down from Doolittle.”

Island Of Debris The Size Of TEXAS From 2011 Japanese Tsunami Is Headed Straight For The U.S.

Slowly but surely: The Texas-sized trash island is floating to the northeast of Hawaii after over two years of sailing across the Pacific

” A floating island of debris the size of Texas has been crossing the vast Pacific Ocean to the western shores of the Americas since a devastating tsunami inundated Japan in 2011, says a new study.

Five million tons of wreckage – the remains of homes, boats, and other remnants of shattered lives in eastern Japan – were swallowed by the ocean that day in March, and more than one million tons of flotsam continues to head towards the west coast of the US.”

” While the first documented debris from the tragedy has already been found in California, scientists fear these new findings mean there could be a lot more to come and it might arrive all at once.”
