Uptown Family Concerned By Lack Of 911 Response After Break-In, Several Calls To Authorities

” An Uptown family woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of someone breaking in and luckily their dog’s barking scared off the intruder. What they didn’t expect was no one answering their 911 calls for help.

” It’s a Taurus 32,” said Terri Bice holding a gun she never thought she’d own. Now the Riverbend resident does own a gun, and there’s a reason why.

” I think someone who would break the door down with that force had a serious intention,” said Bice pointing out the damage to her front door.

  On March 16, Bice’s family was fast asleep when they were woken up around 2 a.m., to someone trying to break in to their home.

  Bice believes it wasn’t the door, but barking from Molly that stopped the intruder in their tracks. So, she did what anyone would do. Grabbed her phone and dialed 9-1-1. She got no answer.

” We all know about first responders and what their importance is that’s not going to happen if no one answers,” said Bice.

  She documented her calls for help: two to 911; two to the NOPD’s non-emergency line; and one to NOPD’s Second District. The final call was answered and Bice confirms an officer showed up two hours after the attempted home invasion.”

Milwaukie Woman Pulls Gun On Intruder

 

 

” An intruder in Milwaukie tried to break into a home after he had already walked into two other apartments and had a gun pulled on him Friday night.

The man was captured on surveillance video walking up to a home and looking through a window at children playing with their babysitter. The man is then seen trying to open the door and get inside. When he discovers the door is locked, he takes off. 

Before trying to get in the home, the man had reportedly walked in two other apartments. In one, he followed Crystal McKinney upstairs and inside.”

 

    The armed citizen is the greatest deterrent to crime , of that there is no doubt . Criminals have little to fear from the police and everything to fear if they know that their potential victims are not defenseless sheep . Kudos to Ms McKinney for having the gun handy and for being confident enough of her abilities to use it in her own and our defense . We say “our” defense even though we live thousands of miles from her town in Oregon because every successful defense against the criminal class by law-abiding citizens makes all of us safer . 

The progressive trend of deferring to the police and disarming the public over the past couple generations , which thankfully is receding , has been a major cause of the rise in crime . When criminals have no fear of consequences crime proliferates . When thugs fear for their safety they go elsewhere or pay a price . In Medford Oregon , Home Invasion Doesn’t Merit An Armed Response

” An Oregon man has had rifle confiscated and is facing criminal charges after he attempted to stop a wanted felon from breaking into his home by firing a warning shot.

Authorities say 40-year-old Jonathon Kinsella, a wanted felon, was attempting to flee the scene when he was arrested on outstanding warrants, including for burglary and assault.

However, police later determined he wasn’t justified in firing his weapon. Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau said “there was nothing that the suspect was doing that was aggressive enough to justify the shooting.”

Apparently, for police in Medford, a wanted felon trying to break into a law-abiding citizen’s home isn’t enough to justify a warning shot.

Corey Thompson was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and reckless endangering. The veteran’s AR-15 was seized by police because they claim it was used in the commission of a crime.”

Police: Woman Shot Intruder 9 Times In Self Defense

 

 

 

” An intruder who was shot and killed after a confrontation with a Duluth woman in her shower was likely stalking her for days and may have other victims, Gwinnett police said.

The 53-year-old woman, who is also a veteran private school counselor, was alone at the time of the Wednesday morning attack. She lives on East Mount Tabor Circle in Duluth.

The woman was getting out of the shower when she was met by a strange man with a kitchen knife, police said. They said there was a struggle in the bathroom, and she fell in the tub. Police later identified the man as Israel Perez Puentes, a Cuban national who lived in Alpharetta.”

” Andrea Rebello was shot once in the head Friday morning by an officer who opened fire after the masked intruder pointed a gun at the officer while holding the 21-year-old Hofstra University student in a headlock, Nassau County homicide squad Lt. John Azzata said.

In a tense confrontation with the officer, gunman Dalton Smith “menaces our police officer, points his gun at the police officer,” Azzata said. The officer opened fire, killing Smith and his hostage.”

86-Year-Old Woman Grabs Gun In Self-Defense

” BULLS GAP, Tenn. –

An 86-year-old woman grabbed a gun in self-defense when police say an intruder broke into her home. News 5 sat down with this woman today and listened to her tell about the experience.

Louise Howard lives just off a busy highway in Bulls Gap.

She told us she’s been the victim of theft many times before, and she’s had enough and it was time to take a stand.

“I told different people if I ever catch them, I mean to kill them,” said Louise Howard.

Louise Howard may be 86 years old, but she isn’t afraid to defend her home or her life.”

  Update : Suspect caught and apparently Ms Howard’s aim was better than she thought . Molena Nichole Dowell, 36 of Morristown was grazed by the single shot and has been apprehended .
