Nutmeg State SWAT Storms Gun Owner’s Home, Seizes Firearms
” Connecticut gun owner told Guns and Patriots that his civil rights were stripped from him by an anti-gun judicial branch and a soon-to-be ex-wife who is uncomfortable with him owning guns.
“ High risk SWAT team rolls in and takes all my guns,” said Edward F. Taupier the respondent in a two-year divorce action that has escalated to an all-out war. “It took two armadillo armored vehicles, 75 officers with weapons drawn, and 45 minutes to raid my house.”
Although he said he posed no risk to the officers, Taupier was thrown to the ground and arrested.
Taupier, who is a former Wall Street chief officer at Citibank, said he has no prior record of arrests or charges – not even a speeding ticket – yet his home was invaded and his guns stolen based on a false allegation made by a person he does not even know, he said.
Linda J. Allard, a West Hartford family law attorney, contacted Superior Court Judge Elizabeth L. Bozzuto, the judge assigned in his divorce proceeding, to discuss a private email she never received directly, he said. “I have never met Linda Allard. I didn’t do anything wrong. I sent an email to seven people that did not include Allard.”
That did not stop the Cromwell police and the judicial marshal, acting outside of a criminal jurisdiction, from having him violently arrested, he said. Allard’s statement to the police, which is missing from evidence, falsely accuses Taupier of threatening Bozzuto in that email, he said. “I never sent any threat to her or anyone.”
After being bailed out of jail, costing his family a total of three-quarters of a million dollars in bond, Taupier said he is assigned to 27 new bail and bond conditions, wears two ankle bracelets, which includes a GPS tracker, and is not permitted to leave the house except for court appearances. This is all despite the fact that the initial risk warrant was determined to be invalid in criminal court, he said.
“ I am on 24-7 lockdown. All my freedoms have been denied,” he said. “This happens to people in North Korea or in the Russian Gulag.”
One day after the arrest, his contract with Citigroup as a financial officer was terminated. The job that gave him the opportunity to be at home with his children after school, instead of warehoused in day care, was taken away from him too, he said.
Taupier’s arrest happened just two days after Tanya A. Taupier initiated an ex parte emergency hearing on Aug. 29 in which Bozzuto ordered their two children, aged 9 and 10, be extracted from one elementary school to another elementary school of Mrs. Taupier’s choice, said Taupier.
“ I have had 50-50 percent custody of my children for the past nine years,” he said. “I am an active and engaged parent – I love my kids.” Her extreme action is a result of a disagreement concerning the best schooling and after-school environment for their children, he said. “That’s what led to the false arrest.”
In court Taupier’s ex-wife said she wanted the school transfer to be as unobtrusive to the children as possible, but at the same time she requested a police escort, to extract two children in the middle of a school day, he said. “It not only violated the children’s rights, it terrorized them.”
Mrs. Taupier then filed a full protective order against him, even though there was no family threat, he said. In court, Mrs. Taupier said Taupier’s possession of guns exposes the children to potential, deadly thugs that can hurt them. She makes this claim without any evidence, said Taupier. “In all the 12 years we have lived together there has never been a domestic violence incident.”
Nonetheless, he said his 50-50 percent custody of the children was unilaterally dissolved by Bozzuto. The new judge assigned, because of the long length of this case, Judge Jorge A. Simon, accepted the ex-wife’s demand to cease weekend visitation and limit any visitation to supervised at a court approved location. “My time with my children now consists of two six-minute phone conversations per week.”
All this time, the ex-wife failed to tell the court that out of the 13 guns that were in her possession, eight of them were given to him by her deceased father, he said. “Guns are a hobby for me. I purchase and collect guns to upgrade them,” said Taupier. “I’m an electrical engineer – I have mechanical skills.”
It was the court appointed guardian ad litem, who initiated the gun ban against him without any evidence his hobby was a threat, he said. At the advice of then-counsel, Taupier agreed to temporarily remove the firearms from the home in exchange for time with his children. Time with his children would not be what the GAL proposed and Taupier later retrieved the firearms with the intention of selling his collection to offset legal costs, he said. “I have $50,000 custom made gun work, with enhanced triggers on my own guns.”
Attorneys’ fees, mediation costs and GAL services that are dragging out the divorce, racked up fees in excess of $30,000, he said. “I have no money, no job, and I’m still not divorced.”
The Connecticut Bar Association dismissed a grievance complaint filed by Taupier against the GAL, Margaret Bozek, because he said her actions did not seek the best interest of the children. “The GAL was not doing her job,” he said. Bozek recommended a full summer of revoked parental rights for Taupier. “My children want to see me. I want to see my children. How is separating us in their best interest?”
Family court, a court of equity, is using the children to punish Taupier for his political activism against GAL services, said Taupier. In a criminal jurisdiction Taupier is entitled to a Fernando hearing which would give him the right to be presented with his accuser. Family court circumvented criminal law by issuing a criminal order in a civil court arena, he said. “The risk warrant allowed officials to take custody and employ the SWAT teams.” In the criminal court, the risk warrant was deemed invalid, he said.
For a state known as the “Constitution State” it does not follow the Constitution very well, he said. “There are First, Second, and Fourth Amendment violations – even my right to vote has been taken away.”
Taupier believes his case is not an isolated one, he said.
The entire family court system is embedded with players in a scam designed to soak money from good parents in order to fund a system that is completely broken. “I come from a big Irish, Catholic family. Family is everything to us,” said Taupier. “My family has been destroyed by family court.” “

Bloomberg Paying Activists To Crash NRA Convention
” We all know former-mayor Michael Bloomberg will go to about any extent to rip the guns away from American citizens, but his latest tactic, some are arguing, is a blow beneath the belt. Seeking to hinder the efforts of NRA Bloomberg has announced that he will be paying anti-gun activists to crash the upcoming gun rights convention.
Bloomberg isn’t known for his most honorable methods however, as his group Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) has lost quite a bit of traction after if came to light that the underlying goal of the organization was actually complete gun confiscation. Since that time, Bloomberg has rebranded himself with a new name, but the efforts are the same.
This time calling his gun-grabbing organization Everytown for Gun Safety, Bloomberg has pledged $50 million from his own bank account to help fund the unconstitutional movement. His most recent spending has been announced as he is shipping about 120 anti-gunners (mothers of survivors and survivors of gun violence) to the NRA convention in Indianapolis for one purpose only – to crash the party.”

Why Tom Ridge ever chose to be a part of the Nanny’s gun grabbing scheme is beyond us but he has decided that he made a mistake and has bailed . Better late than never we suppose .
” Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge suddenly quit the board of the New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s new gun-control group Everytown for Gun Safety — the second Republican to resign from a Bloomberg effort this month over concerns about its mission or planned political activities.
” When I signed on as an adviser to Everytown, I looked forward to a thoughtful and provocative discussion about the toll gun violence takes on Americans,” Ridge, who served under President George W. Bush, told The Daily Caller in a statement. “After consultation with Everytown, I have decided that I am uncomfortable with their expected electoral work.”
Having Ridge aboard was considered a coup for Bloomberg because the former Pennsylvania governor is a Republican, the Daily Caller reports. The former mayor, whose 12-year term ended in January, was planning to spend $50 million on the group in hopes of it rivaling the National Rifle Association, according to The New York Times.”

Vermont: Gun Confiscation Provisions Tucked Inside Bill On Government Fees
” Buried inside a bill that would adjust fees for lottery ticket sales, returned checks and the use of the “Market Vermont” logo, is a budding requirement for police to confiscate, store for a fee and sell privately owned guns.
The legislation, among its many regulatory tenets, would establish a framework for law enforcement to seize and store guns from those who are the subject of a restraining order.
“ We’re talking about folks who have been abusive to their partner or spouse, usually wife,” Gov. Peter Shumlin said at a news conference in Barre last week.
Ostensibly designed to adjust certain judicial and executive fees inside the Vermont government, just six pages of the 31-page bill, H.735, deal with firearms. It is this section, however, that is drawing the most attention.”
Guns.com has more on this latest sneaky effort by pols to confiscate guns . It’s a good thing women never make any false accusations against spurned lovers , or there might be people men persecuted by the State on heresay “evidence”.
While we realize that this bill does not explicitly push confiscation it does place an undue financial burden on citizens that have not been convicted of any offense merely on the suspicion that they might be used in a crime .
We certainly do not wish any harm on women or any other domestic partners but if the State feels the need to take an individual’s guns without prior conviction then the State should be obligated to foot the bill for the safe storage of confiscated arms until it has attained a conviction .
For an innocent man to have his guns taken by the State solely on the word of a disgruntled lover and be sent a bill for such storage even if found nit guilty at the end of the day is a penalty without a crime and and affront to due process .

Would you give up everything, your life for the idea we call Freedom and Liberty?And not in suicide, but in American Glory! The second amendment is a serious one. People died for this idea to even exist let alone be remembered by us today because they wouldn’t give up their guns when they were told to so. Lexington and Concord are case and point: it wasn’t just one person, an individual…… these were men of purpose who quickly formed up and just went knowing full well that they might die that day with Free Will and God in their heart.

My prediction – In the end of this stifled circus we will see the authorities back off. This is a tactic to see if we will stand and push back. It they know that we will not, they will start to roll on us hard from here knowing we will fold. We usually do fold, if not in the immediacy, we usually let our guard down eventually. There is such a concept as being “too free”. If they see that we are together and will stand, they will stand down and be in the periphery until they feel they can have another go at us. It’s the way bullies and communism have worked since its beginning.
I think and pray and hope with all my might that these people retract from this treasonous behavior, and when they do, we come after them with everything we can to take them from office by vote or any means necessary because un-American becomes Treason when you they actively, visibly and provably come to enslave you, that’s all they want really. Connecticut Gun Owners: “Come And Get Them!”
” Connecticut gun owners are calling the state’s anti-gun bluff. The state recently passed a slew of anti-gun legislation, including a gun registration program for so called “assault rifles” that has been received with less enthusiasm than Obamacare. In fact, many gun owners in Connecticut have elected to ignore the patently unconstitutional law in the same way that Millennials have ignored the IRS requirement for health insurance. And now, as the state issues threatening letters and increased confiscation rhetoric, citizens are telling the state: “Come and take them.”
” Despite the strong rhetoric, and threatened legal action, citizens have remained stunningly unfazed by the authoritarian nature of Connecticut’s gun registration scheme. In fact, Connecticut Carry (a decidedly pro-Second Amendment group) has even gone so far as to challenge the state to go door-to-door:
Connecticut Carry calls on every State official, every Senator, and every Representative, to make the singular decision: Either enforce the laws as they are written and let us fight it out in court, or repeal the 2013 Gun Ban in its entirety.
Connecticut Carry has essentially called their state’s bluff: “Repeal the law, or start confiscating”. After all, going door to door, in an effort to confiscate the guns of well-armed citizens, seems like a mildly insane idea… Even in wildly liberal havens such as Hartford.”
This can only end badly . We are about to witness a showdown between law-abiding citizens and the arrogant “public servants” who , up until now have never seen the price that can be exacted for their routinely statist votes . Of course initially the only ones to pay a price , in blood and treasure , will be the patriotic citizens and the State’s enforcers , namely the Connecticut State Police , but that will change when the first antagonist(s) are killed during the confiscation attempt .
How soon will it be before the only avenue for the citizens to achieve a “redress of their grievances” is to start attacking the members of the legislature ? We’ll wager that once the danger that this instant-felon law brings to the police and tax-payers becomes a threat to the elitist fools in Hartford they’ll see the error of their ways . The politicians would do well to remember that their addresses are a matter of public record just as their voting records are .

Valley View: Mayoral Group’s Gun Agenda Is Wrong
” I’m the mayor of one of the largest cities in the Hudson Valley, just 90 minutes north of New York City. I’m a life member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, or MAIG, started by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2006.
I’m no longer a member of MAIG. Why? Just as Ronald Reagan said of the Democratic Party, it left me. And I’m not alone: Nearly 50 pro-Second Amendment mayors have left the organization. They left for the same reason I did. MAIG became a vehicle for Bloomberg to promote his personal gun-control agenda — violating the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and taking resources away from initiatives that could actually work to protect our neighborhoods and save precious lives. Gun control will actually make a bad situation worse.
It did not take long to realize that MAIG’s agenda was much more than ridding felons of illegal guns; that under the guise of helping mayors facing a crime and drug epidemic, MAIG intended to promote confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens. I don’t believe, never have believed and never will believe that public safety is enhanced by encroaching on our right to bear arms, and I will not be a part of any organization that does.”

” In an end-of-week “information dump” often resorted to by political leaders to publicly release information they would like overlooked, President Obama formally has launched his much-feared expansion of the use of mental health diagnoses to crack down on gun ownership.
The Obama Department of Homeland Security already is on record casting aspersions on the mental ability of returning veterans, third-party candidate supporters and people with pro-life bumper stickers – calling them potential “right-wing extremists.” It was also caught, through the IRS, targeting conservative organizations that might be critical of Obama.
So critics of the administration long have warned the move would come. On Friday, it did.
Obama announced that his Department of Justice is proposing a rule change that would “clarify” that being committed to a mental institution – a key red flag under gun ownership rules – would include receiving nebulous “outpatient” services from a professional, such as a psychiatrist.”

Illinois Continues Gun Confiscation
” A recent article from the Chicago Sun Times tells us that Cook County Sheriffs are continuing the fine tradition of Illinois gun grabs by going door-to-door confiscating firearms from people who have expired FOID cards. Every Illinois gun owner is required to have a “Firearms Owners Identification Card” to own a firearm. If a gun owner lets the 10 year expiration date pass without renewal, they’re now illegally in possession of firearms. They won’t get a friendly reminder, instead they will hear jack boots kicking their door in to forcibly separate them from their Constitutionally protected personal property.

CAGE is a catchy acronym for “Chicago Anti-Gun Enforcement” and is a joint venture between the Chicago Police and the Illinois State Police. As their name implies, they exist solely to enforce gun control laws and to harass Illinois gun owners. It also appears they’re responsible for keeping a registry of Illinois gun owners.”

Now, according to a report on Buzz Feed, numerous mayors are abandoning the organization, and new mayors are more hestitant to join the group than in the past.

Most of the mayors whose names are no longer affiliated with the group are off the list either because they resigned or lost an election, but others have specifically asked to be removed.
At least two mayors, Mayor Donnalee Lozeau of Nashua, NH and the mayor of Rockford, Illinois, Larry Morrissey, left the group earlier this year due to the overreaching and ever expanding anti-gun efforts of the group. Many mayors thought the group’s primary purpose was to keep guns away from criminals, but as the group began to lobby for bans on certain types of weapons, magazine capacity limits and further gun legislation, it has become clear that Michael Bloomberg is using the group to spread his personal, anti-gun politics to other areas of the country.”

” The proposal will allow a doctor to add a patient to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) without ever telling the patient he or she has been added.
There would be no due process requirement. Not all doctors will be able to do it with the same ease, but many will. Knowing a doctor could add him to a federal database as mentally ill without his knowledge could potentially dissuade a patient from going to the doctor in the first place to get help.
Worse, if the doctor does so and makes a mistake, the patient would have to actively work through the system to get himself removed — guilty before being proven innocent. In some states, should a doctor flag you as having mental illness without your knowledge, you may very well see the state come collect your previously purchased guns.”

Lawmaker To Investigate Gun Seizure
” A state lawmaker is calling for an investigation into how an Amherst man’s guns were taken away by mistake.
State Assemblyman Ray Walter says when he saw the news coverage of David Lewis’ case, he knew immediately something was “seriously wrong.” Walter wants some answers, when he meets face-to-face with the State Police Superintendent in Albany next Tuesday.
Lewis said, “It’s been very embarrassing. I feel like I’ve been let down, and my privacy’s been invaded.”
Lewis’ attorney, Jim Tresmond, suspects investigators are using the SAFE Act, to pry into confidential medical records.
“We hear that there’s a special unit that’s been created to peruse the HIPAA reports,” Tresmond said.
Walter added, “Or else this was just a test case on the part of the Governor’s office, to see how far we could push this law. And I hope that’s not the case.”
State Supreme Court Judge William Boller has ordered Lewis’ pistol permit reinstated; once Lewis has it back, he can pick up his guns from Amherst Police.
Tresmond says he’ll be filing in federal and possibly state courts, on the grounds that Lewis’ rights to due process were violated.”

NY Gun Confiscation Underway – Citizens Told To Turn In Pistol Owner ID & Firearms
” Remember all those who denied that firearms confiscation as a result of New York’s new gun laws was too “insane” to even consider?
That it was strictly in the realm of paranoid conspiracy theorists and the “it cant happen here crowd”?
There’s just one huge problem it is happening now in New York State!
It seems those that tried desperately to warn of such an insidious plot had hit the bullseye with their warnings after all. News came from multiple NY State based firearms enthusiast websites late Friday that confiscations of Pistol Owner ID Cards, as well as firearms and accessories has commenced in NY under the provisions of the horribly flawed, draconian and blatantly unconstitutional NY SAFE Act.Those folks having their weapons and FID cards confiscated have been discovered to have been prescribed multiple different types of psychotropic drugs, such as those for Depression or Anxiety. These are known as SSRI ( Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) class drugs and have the potential to cause serious and adverse side effects, something I wrote about extensively last week in an article that went viral in days and caused multiple Anti Gun and Progressive News Groups to initiate a concentrated denial of service hacker attack against Ammoland Shooting Sports News (see Daily KOS ” Keeping Track Of The RKBA Crowd” http://tiny.cc/ug67uw), in an effort to keep the information from the public.

“John Doe, an upstanding professional with no outstanding criminal convictions and no history of violent action received a letter from the Pistol Permit Department informing him that his license was immediately revoked upon information that he was seeing a therapist for anxiety and had been prescribed an anxiety drug. He was never suicidal, never violent, and has no criminal history. The New York State Department of Health is apparently conducting a search of medical records to determine who is being treated for anxiety drugs and using this as a basis for handgun license revocation.
Those are the facts. Nothing more, nothing less.”

GUNS OF LAW-ABIDING HUSBAND CONFISCATED AFTER WIFE’S SINGLE VOLUNTARY MENTAL HEALTH VISIT
” Just last week, the California Senate approved a $24 million funding bill to expedite the process of collecting guns from owners in the state who legally acquired them but have since become disqualified due to felony convictions or mental illness.
Such was recently the case for one woman, who had been in the hospital voluntarily for mental illness last year that she says was due to medication she was taking. Lynette Phillips of Upland, Calif., told TheBlaze in a phone interview Monday she had purchased a gun years ago for her husband, David, as a present. That gun, as well as two others registered to her law-abiding husband (who does not have a history of felonies or mental illness), were seized last Tuesday.
“The prohibited person can’t have access to a firearm” regardless of who the registered owner is, Michelle Gregory, a spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office, told to Bloomberg News.
Such a Prohibited Armed Persons File is created through the Office of the Attorney General. When a person is entered into the Automated Criminal History System, the Consolidated Firearms Information System is also checked to see if they might have possession of a gun. The same check is conducted for those involuntarily admitted into the hospital for mental illness as well.”
