Birmingham 1 Of 6 Pilot Sites In Federal Effort To Restore Police, Community Relations

” Birmingham has been chosen as one of six cities nationwide to serve as a pilot site for a national initiative on restoring relationships between law enforcement and citizens.

Attorney General Eric Holder made the announcement today. The $4.7 million National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice was announced in April and is a partnership between federal officials and criminal justice experts focused on providing training, policy and research to address distrust between citizens and law enforcement.

The other pilot cities are: Ft. Worth, Gary, Indiana, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh and Stockton. The initiative comes after several high profile fatal police-involved shootings.”

This can only end badly . Considering that the Justice department does not exactly inspire faith in government how is it’s attempt to co-opt the police forces of numerous cities going to restore faith in law enforcement ? It’s just one more step towards the nationalization of police . Read more here

A message to the citizens of the FIRST six cities to fall under federal control; if you think your local PD is unresponsive to your pleas and that increasing the bureaucracy with a federal level of “supervision” will help , then you really have not been paying attention these last few years . You , and the rest of us , will rue the day that the Feds take over your law enforcement duties .

Border Agent Brian Terry Statue Unveiling Ignored By Obama And Holder

” The unveiling of a new statue built to memorialize the murdered U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry on Saturday at the Homeland Security Department’s Brian Terry Border Patrol Station in Bisbee, Arizona, received minimal news coverage by the nation’s media except for the Fox News Channel, a news agency maligned and denigrated by President Barack Obama and his administration. In fact, no official from the Obama government attended the event and the sycophants in the legacy media made certain not to cover the story.

” That iconic image of Brian carrying his BordTac team member on his shoulders represents everything good about Brian, his strength, his determination, his attention to detail, his love for the Border Patrol and his love for his fellow agents,” Terry’s cousin, Robert Heyer, told FNC’s anchor Arthel Neville while standing next to the image of the hero cop.

One police official noted that while President Obama made certain to appear with illegal aliens, promising them that he would punish any immigration enforcement agents or officers who did not follow his anti-deportation policy, he appeared to be indifferent to the deaths of law enforcement officers killed by illegal aliens or foreign gangs. “This is a leader who regularly disrespects law enforcement officers while being concerned about the treatment of terrorists, criminal aliens and lawbreakers,” said police officer Anna Colon.”

Federal Court Rules Interstate Handgun Transfer Ban Unconstitutional

” In a huge victory for supporters of gun rights, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas Fort Worth Division issued a ruling Wednesday declaring the federal ban on interstate transfers of handguns unconstitutional. The 28-page opinion in the case of Frederic Russell Mance, Jr. against Attorney General Eric Holder, Jr. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive Director B. Todd Jones was signed by United States District Judge Reed O’Connor.

Joined in the lawsuit by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, the judgment noted the Brady instant background check system was not available when the prohibition on interstate transfers was enacted. Because that capability now exists, Judge O’Connor noted, the government’s “argument fails to take into account the current version of the 1968 Gun Control Act, nor does it address how simply crossing state lines under the modern regime can circumvent state law.”

“ Based on the foregoing, the Court concludes that Defendants have not shown that the federal interstate handgun transfer ban is narrowly tailored to be the least restrictive means of achieving the Government’s goals under current law,” O’Connor explained. “The federal interstate handgun transfer ban is therefore unconstitutional on its face.”

Eric Holder’s Justice Department Rocked By Nepotism Charges

” The head of a Justice Department law enforcement office used his position to secure a job for his son and other relatives, the agency’s internal watchdog said Wednesday, the latest in a string of reports that have repeatedly found examples of nepotism at the department.

The head of the Justice branch of the International Criminal Police Organization, or INTERPOL, told employees to “earmark a spot” for his son and “provide extra attention to his processing for obvious reasons,” said the department’s inspector general.

It’s not the first example of nepotism at Eric Holder’s Justice Department. A November investigation by the inspector general found that certain offices in the department had a “pervasive culture of nepotism and favoritism.” It’s at least the fifth inspector general report since 2004 to find hiring problems at the agency.

“ There is no room for nepotism in the federal government’s hiring practices,” said Rep. Bob Goodlatte, a Virginia Republican and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. “Those hired to serve taxpayers must earn — not be given — the job. I urge the Department of Justice to take the appropriate disciplinary actions for such an abuse of authority.”

The INTERPOL office’s Executive Director, Warren Lewis, also abused his position to help three people with connections to his son obtain jobs at the agency — even though he had never personally met two of them, investigators said.

“ Lewis had no personal knowledge of their professional abilities,” the inspector general said. “After the three individuals all failed to make the certified lists of qualified applicants, Lewis took steps to overcome their exclusion.”

Ironically, Mr. Lewis is listed as the Justice Department’s Ethics Official for his office, according to department records.”

Lerner Met With DOJ Month Before 2010 Elections

” Judicial Watch, a constitutionally conservative, non-profit educational foundation, has new evidence against Lois Lerner in the IRS Tea Party targeting case.

Documents they’ve just obtained from the Department of Justice show that the former IRS official met with Department of Justice’s Election Crimes Division one month before the 2010 elections.

The Justice Department has withheld more than 800 pages of documents in the Lerner investigation, citing “taxpayer privacy” and “deliberative privilege.”

These new documents dramatically show how the Justice Department is up to its neck in the IRS scandal and can’t be trusted to investigate crimes associated with the IRS abuses that targeted Obama’s critics. And it is of particular concern that the DOJ’s Public Integrity Section, which would ordinarily investigate the IRS abuses, is now implicated in the IRS crimes,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said.

Chris Farrell, director of research and investigations for Judicial Watch, talked more about the significance of these newly discovered DOJ meetings, on CBN News Today, Dec. 9. “

Sheriff David Clarke Blasts Obama, Holder, And Sharpton Over Handling Of Ferguson Situation And Poverty

” David Clarke, a sheriff in Milwaukee County, joined Megyn Kelly on The Kelly File to speak about Attorney General Eric Holder, President Obama, and Al Sharpton.

The sheriff began by unleashing on Holder for his statements when he threw police officers “under the bus,” suggesting they patrol just looking to kill black people.

“He claims he wants justice for all, but apparently he doesn’t want justice for police officers,” Clarke said.

Then the sheriff laid into Obama for his most recent White House meeting, which Clarke classified as a “Kabuki theater.” Had he attended the meeting, the sheriff said he would have asked the president why, if he was so concerned about the anger and unrest in the black community, he did not take an action that would actually work? “

Is Loretta Lynch Another Eric Holder? Her Troubling Past

” The early signs are that Loretta Lynch may share some of the same troubling views as outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder, which makes it even more important that the Senate do a thorough review and vetting of her nomination by President Obama to be the new attorney general.

This is particularly true for those who understand how important the rule of law is to our constitutional system, something that Eric Holder has damaged during his tenure.

Lynch, who is the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York (which includes Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Nassau and Suffolk Counties), has made it clear that she would continue Holder’s war on election integrity.

In a speech at the Long Beach Martin Luther King Center in New York in January, Lynch claimed that efforts to improve the integrity of the election process were an attempt “to take back” what Martin Luther King, Jr. had fought for and that state legislatures were trying to “reverse” the gains made in voting.  Lynch made it clear she approved of the Justice Department’s lawsuits against states such as North Carolina to stop voter ID laws and changes in early voting and same-day registration rules, saying such suits “will continue.”

In her speech, Lynch apparently did not realize the irony of standing in front of a picture of Nelson Mandela while making this false claim against voter ID laws, given that South Africa has a much stricter voter ID requirement that was supported by Mandela.  Members of the Senate owe it to voters to question Lynch intensely on this issue and should be troubled at the prospects of anyone who would continue Eric Holder’s policy of going after states for trying to protect the integrity of the election process. “

Here’s an idea , how about we get an Attorney General that works for everyone and not just one race …

‘Election Eve Dump:’ Eric Holder Releases Fast and Furious Documents That Got Him Cited for Contempt

” Justice Department officials provided House investigators with thousands of documents related to Operation Fast and Furious that President Obama had previously claimed were exempt from congressional review.

In an “election eve dump,” as House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R., Calif.) put it, DOJ handed over 64,280 pages of documents, a release that is still only a partial fulfillment of the committee’s request.

“ This production is nonetheless a victory for the legislative branch, a victory for transparency, and a victory for efforts to check Executive Branch power,” Issa said of the release.

DOJ handed over the documents pursuant to a court order. “When Eric Holder wants to know why he was the first Attorney General held in criminal contempt of Congress, he can read the judge’s order that compelled the production of 64,280 pages that he and President Obama illegitimately and illegally withheld from Congress,” Issa said.  “Since these pages still do not represent the entire universe of the documents the House of Representatives is seeking related to the Justice Department’s cover-up of the botched gun-walking scandal that contributed to the death of a Border Patrol agent, our court case will continue.” “

What Was Found At A Phoenix Crime Scene Could Land Holder And Obama In Boiling Hot Water

” The federal gun-walking operation provided weapons to criminals in Mexico – often without any subsequent tracking of their use. The death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry has been attributed to a killer using one of these guns.

The latest claims came from Judicial Watch, which offered a brief summary of its allegations in an exclusive interview with Phoenix news radio station KFYI Monday. Mark Spencer confirmed only that his organization is confident that, following an investigation, a firearm recovered at a crime scene last year will be definitively linked to the botched operation.

Spencer noted that Judicial Watch first petitioned the Phoenix Police Department in an effort to obtain the relevant information earlier this year. As authorities have yet to comply, he explained that the organization is now pursuing action through the court system by filing a complaint with a local judge.”

Bill Whittle: Ferguson And The Real Race War

” Since the shooting of Michael Brown by a white policeman and the ensuing riots and looting in Ferguson, MO, Americans have been told, yet again, that there is an epidemic of crime against black people in this country. But is there really a race war, and if so, which side is actually waging it? “

This Gun Manufacturer Just Stared Down Eric Holder And Told Him To Shove It

” While many anti-gun activists have responded to recent tragic shootings by demanding that law-abiding gun owners give up their Second Amendment rights, many in the industry have worked to make guns safer. One such innovator is Kodiak Arms President W.P. Gentry.

The manufacturer spent time and money researching the potential benefits of installing software into firearms allowing them to recognize authorized users before becoming operable. Gentry noted that his company was at the forefront of perfecting such technology just months after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

“ I then had the biggest development in smart-gun technology coming together at my facility in Utah,” he said, touting a product called “the Intelligun.”

He explained that the handgun’s grip would be able to identify fingerprints and, within one second, recognize whether the holder was authorized to use the firearm or not. When Attorney General Eric Holder met with multiple gun manufacturers in April 2013, Gentry said he was invited to discuss his innovation.

“ This interested Eric Holder,” he recalled. “He wondered how we might be able to control who was or wasn’t authorized.”

Immediately, Gentry realized the host was proposing something antithetical to the motivation behind his research.

“ I stopped him right there,” he said. “I looked right across the table at Eric Holder – yeah, the attorney general of the United States – and told him, ‘If you try to mandate my smart-gun technology, I’ll burn it down.’”

Gentry explained that it was clear he and Holder had opposing views regarding how to make guns safer.

“The Intelligun is designed to save lives,” he said, “not restrict freedom.”

Holder’s interest in restricting users by utilizing the new technology is just one reason gun rights advocates say that many anti-gun activists want to see the software mandated in all firearms.”

U.S. Reconstitutes Group To Fight Homegrown “Extremists”

” The United States is reviving a law enforcement group to investigate those it designates as domestic terrorists, the Department of Justice announced Tuesday.

Following hate-motivated shootings such as the one at a Jewish Community Center in Kansas City, Missouri in April, federal prosecutors have pressed the need to coordinate intelligence about such criminals on a national level, Justice Department officials said.

The Department of Justice will reconstitute a task force that was originally formed after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing but dissolved after the Sept. 11, 2001 hijacked plane attacks as law enforcement agencies focused on threats from militants abroad.

On Tuesday, Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement that the United States remains concerned about threats from Islamic extremists, but the group will focus on other motives for attacks within U.S. borders.”

What You Need To Know About Holder’s Drug Sentencing Proposal And The State Of America’s Prison Population

” Holder’s endorsement today is not the first time that he has advocated for drug sentencing reforms. Last August, Holder announced that the Department of Justice would not pursue mandatory minimums for some non-violent drug offenders.

The United States, which makes up roughly 5 percent of the world’s population, houses about 25 percent of the world’s prisoners.

The federal prison system currently has around 216,000 prisoners, a little more than 40 percent of whom are behind bars for drug offenders.

Watchdog: Holder Lets Prosecutors Get Away With Misconduct

” A government watchdog group has attacked the Justice Department for failing to discipline hundreds of federal prosecutors who have committed serious misconduct during their cases, The Washington Times reported.

The Project on Government Oversight revealed that there were 650 cases of mostly “reckless” or “intentional” infractions from 2002 to 2013, including one incident in which a prosecutor actually had a “close personal relationship” with a defendant.

Calling them “bad apples,” POGO claimed that the Justice Department has declined to name the government attorneys involved, allowing them to get away with and continue their actions.

Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Democratic Montana Sen. John Tester introduced a bill on Thursday calling for closer scrutiny of possible prosecutorial misconduct by handing Justice’s independent inspector general the authority to examine such cases.”

Chalk Up Yet Another Legal Fiasco To Attorney General Eric Holder

ali_mohamed_ali

” A suspected pirate, freed after a civilian trial, is seeking asylum here.

For centuries, international law has considered pirates to be the ultimate war criminals and “enemies of all mankind.” As a crime of “universal jurisdiction,” piracy can be punished by any nation. But there is no requirement that it be tried in the civilian courts. Piracy is inherently a warlike enterprise, and in its present form off the Somali coast it has reached higher levels of violence than some wars do. In 2008, the year in which the CEC Future was taken captive, pirates seized 49 ships and held nearly 900 crew members for ransom worldwide. Somali pirates were responsible for 111 attacks that year. Although the incidence of Somali piracy has dropped since peaking in 2011, it is still a serious menace.

But this administration, trapped by the ideology of its anti-war base, had no idea what to do with Ali. The Obama administration refuses to send any new detainees to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, because it cannot bring itself to admit agreement with Bush-era anti-terrorism policies. Instead, it prefers to kill terrorist leaders (and nearby civilians) with drone strikes rather than capturing them to gain intelligence. As a result, the Obama administration has failed to capture a single high-ranking terrorist leader in five years, and the most valuable pool of information — human intelligence — is drying up.”

Department Of Black Justice Issues Discipline Rules For Teachers: Black Students Must Be Let Off The Hook

” The Obama administration is issuing new recommendations on classroom discipline that seek to end the apparent disparities in how students of different races are punished for violating school rules.

Civil rights advocates have long said that a “school-to-prison” pipeline stems from overly zealous school discipline policies targeting black and Hispanic students that bring them out of school and into the court system.

Attorney General Eric Holder said the problem often stems from well intentioned “zero-tolerance” policies that too often inject the criminal justice system into the resolution of problems. Zero tolerance policies, a tool that became popular in the 1990s, often spell out uniform and swift punishment for offenses such as truancy, smoking or carrying a weapon. Violators can lose classroom time or become saddled with a criminal record.

“ Ordinary troublemaking can sometimes provoke responses that are overly severe, including out of school suspensions, expulsions and even referral to law enforcement and then you end up with kids that end up in police precincts instead of the principal’s office,” Holder said.”

DARRELL ISSA VOWS FAST & FURIOUS JUSTICE ON BRIAN TERRY MURDER ANNIVERSARY

” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is remembering the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry with a continued promise to seek justice in his investigation of the Justice Department’s Operation Fast and Furious.

Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that his committee and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, will never give up the fight for Operation Fast and Furious documents that Attorney General Eric Holder and President Barack Obama are withholding from the American people.

Issa’s interview with Breitbart News comes on the third anniversary of Terry’s murder, which is Sunday. On Dec. 15, 2010, Terry was murdered in Peck Canyon in Arizona about 17 miles inside the U.S. border with Mexico by drug cartel operatives using weapons that the Obama administration had walked into Mexico via Operation Fast and Furious. Issa said that Terry’s family should know that, despite “setbacks” over the past few years, he will never stop his fight for the truth.”

Judge Dismisses Lawsuit By Family Of Slain Border Agent

PHOENIX (Reuters) – ” A wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry has been dismissed by a federal judge on the grounds that a court settlement would interfere with the powers of the U.S. government, which has a compensation scheme of its own.

Terry died in a shoot-out with Mexican drug cartel gunmen in southern Arizona in December 2010 in a case tied to a flawed bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, gun-running operation that embarrassed the Obama administration and strained relations with Mexico.”

If you wade through the fine print you will find that the government has created a loophole that allows them to avoid any responsibility in the wrongful deaths of it’s employees .

” Last year Terry’s parents, Kent and Josephine Terry, filed a $25 million wrongful-death claim against prosecutors and ATF agents alleging they acted in violation of their own policies and that so-called “Fast and Furious” operation negligently allowed the weapons to be bought by violent criminals.

In a written ruling released on Friday, District Judge David G. Campbell found that federal law and prior U.S. Supreme Court rulings barred such damages because the U.S. Congress has passed laws providing compensation – including death benefits – for survivors of federal officers killed in the line of duty.

“The Court recognizes that Plaintiffs have suffered a great loss, and that any financial remedy is likely insufficient to redress their injury,” Campbell said in the eight-page ruling.

“But as the Supreme Court has made clear, the bedrock principle of separation of powers counsels against judicially-created remedies when Congress has established a remedial scheme,” he added.

An attorney representing Terry’s family said they planned to appeal the ruling.”

Basically , by establishing a compensation fund for government employees , they have insulated themselves from any further scrutiny in the way of culpability when the government fails to provide the necessary support of it’s agents in the field .

While somewhat understandable in it’s design of protecting the taxpayers from excessive punitive awards it is a double-edged sword in helping the government cover it’s collective a** in times of screw-ups .

Yes, An Obama DOJ Memo Calls For Gun Registration, Confiscation

Stealth Gun Control PDF

” Fears of gun registration and confiscation have run rampant since Barack Obama assumed the Presidency and appointed Eric Holder as Attorney General, and now we can confirm that those fears were well founded.

Red Flag News posted the following in February:

The National Rifle Association has obtained a Department of Justice memo calling for national gun registration and confiscation. The nine page “cursory summary” on current gun control initiatives was not officially released by the Obama administration.

The DOJ memo (downloadable here as a PDF) states the administration “believes that a gun ban will not work without mandatory gun confiscation,” according to the NRA, and thinks universal background checks “won’t work without requiring national gun registration.” “

There has been much speculation regarding the legitimacy of this memo , but only today the writer (Bob Owens) had the authenticity of the DoJ document confirmed to him . Read the rest and explore the links . This should come as no surprise . If there is one opinion that Obama can be counted upon to hold unassailable it is “people gun control” .

1st Amendment Battle Over ‘Gun-Walking’ Expose

” The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is blocking the main whistleblower in the Fast and Furious case from publishing a book, claiming his retelling of the Mexico “gun-walking” scandal will hurt morale inside the embattled law enforcement agency, according to documents obtained by The Washington Times.

ATF’s dispute with Special Agent John Dodson is setting up a First Amendment showdown that is poised to bring together liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union and conservatives in Congress who have championed Mr. Dodson’s protection as a whistleblower.

The ACLU is slated to become involved in the case Monday, informing ATF it is representing Mr. Dodson and filing a formal protest to the decision to reject his request to publish the already written book, sources told The Times, speaking only on the condition of anonymity.”

JUSTICE DEPT TO SUE NORTH CAROLINA OVER VOTER LAW

” The Justice Department will sue the state of North Carolina for alleged racial discrimination over tough new voting rules, the latest effort by the Obama administration to fight back against a Supreme Court decision that struck down the most powerful part of the landmark Voting Rights Act and freed southern states from strict federal oversight of their elections.

North Carolina has a new law scaling back the period for early voting and imposing stringent voter identification requirements. It is among at least five Southern states adopting stricter voter ID and other election laws. The Justice Department on Aug. 22 sued Texas over the state’s voter ID law and is seeking to intervene in a lawsuit over redistricting laws in Texas that minority groups consider to be discriminatory.”

Seeks Docs About DOJ’s Legal Fight Over Holder Contempt Of Congress Citation

” Judicial Watch announced today that on September 5, 2013, it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, against the Obama Department of Justice (DOJ) seeking access to all records of communications between DOJ and House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform relating to settlement discussions in the Committee’s 2012 contempt of Congress lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder. The contempt citation stemmed from Holder’s refusal to turn over documents to Congress related to the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal (Judicial Watch v. DOJ (No. 1:13-cv-1344)).

Judicial Watch filed the FOIA lawsuit as part of its continuing investigation of the Fast and Furious scandal, where the Obama administration allowed weapons to “walk” across the border into the hands of Mexican drug cartels directly resulting in the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and countless Mexican citizens. On August 13, 2012, the House Oversight Committee sued Holder to enforce subpoenas in its probe of the Fast and Furious operation. On March 18, 2013, after a breakdown of settlement talks between the Committee and DOJ, a federal judge ordered the two sides to enter into mediation.”
