Parents Argue Teaching Young Kids To Shoot Prevents Gun Accidents

TEACHING KIDS ABOUT GUNS

” As two adults stood next to him to help hold his shoulder, Charlie Doxey, then 4 years old, took aim with a machine gun that was longer than he is tall, and fired.

” Is that fun, Charlie?” an adult nearby asked him, as the little boy smiled.

Charlie was one of several children at a family get-together hosted outside of Atlanta, where young kids can learn how to shoot while their parents look on — and this was not Charlie’s first time.

” I knew that he was safe,” said Charlie’s mother Jennifer Doxey. “Guns don’t have to be bad. They’re good, they’re fun, you can have family fun with them.”

Georgia law allows fully automatic rifles in the state as long as they were obtained before 1986.”

This should be a non-issue as the left is all about Education, Education, Education … A more educated individual is a more capable individual thus the resounding success of the NRA’s Eddie Eagle program . If they could just see past their blind hatred of a simple piece of metal with no will of it’s own their own hypocrisy would be revealed to them . they have no problem “educating” 5 year-olds about the joys of sex so why should they object to a child learning about the capabilities of firearms ?
One can easily make the case that we are already seeing a significant reduction in accidental firearms deaths even as the percentage of guns per person continues to soar . Accidental shootings don’t even make it into the top five in terms of annual deaths . The average citizen has an exponentially greater risk of dying from a fall , in a fire , being poisoned , dying in a car wreck or even drowning that they do of being accidentally shot . You are four times more likely to chock to death than to be accidentally shot and educating children in the use of firearms can only bring the number lower as the success of the NRA program demonstrates .
Of course reason is not what governs the debate over the gun issue . Nor is the issue public safety . We all know what the forces of the State and their allies in the media are after … it is CONTROL .

What Kids Notice At The Office

Kids Work

” People often bring their children to the workplace, hoping they will pick up valuable lessons about careers or the rewards of hard work. What kids perceive often isn’t what their parents think.

When Melissa Lea’s two kids—son Spencer Lea Hart, 10, and daughter Kelsey Lea Hart, 12—come to the office of the media-buying agency she runs in Waltham, Mass., “they see me work my tail off,” she says.

To Spencer, his mom’s office, housed in a former watch factory, “kind of feels like a jungle gym,” he says. On weekend visits, he shimmies up its floor-to-ceiling support poles. He and Kelsey use wheeled stools like bumper cars, riding on their stomachs through the halls. And they feast on crackers and pretzels from the office kitchen and sweets from dishes on employees’ desks.”

New Book Tells The Extraordinary Story Of The Children Who Believe They Are A WWII pilot, Star Golfer And A Hollywood Agent From A Past Life – And have This Scientist Utterly Convinced

Dr. Tucker, in a follow-up to his book Life Before Life, explores American cases of young children who report memories of previous lives

” How could anyone possibly take seriously a three-year-old golfing prodigy’s claim to be legendary 13-time major winner Bobby Jones? Or another boy from Louisiana who recalls being a Second World War pilot shot down over the Pacific?

A world renowned professor for a start. Dr Jim Tucker’s remarkable experiences with these children, many who can recall intimate details of their past lives in pin-sharp detail – and with no prompting – has led him to the conclusion that reincarnation is real.

Over the past 10-years, Dr Jim Tucker has traveled the country meeting  families and hearing fantastical incredible stories just like these, which he outlines in his new book, Return To Life: Extraordinary Cases Of Children Who Remember Past Lives.

This is very strange and we’re not sure what to make of it , not being at all well-versed in the more spiritual side of life we can think of little to add to the conversation of afterlife and re-incarnation other than … Cool !

” Dr Tucker’s explanation for his belief in reincarnation may be mind-boggling but it is far from outlandish.

He bases it in the ever-developing field of quantum mechanics, pioneered by scientific luminaries such as Albert Einstein.

Dr Tucker believes that because quantum physics demonstrates that conscious observation can be critical in determining physical events, he argues that consciousness might actually be separate from the brain and exists apart from our physical bodies.

He believes that the brain might in fact simply be a conduit for consciousness to inhabit our bodies but is transient through time and space.

He provides the analogy of a television set and the television transmission; the television is required to decode the signal, but it does not create the signal. In a similar way the brain may be required for consciousness to express itself, but may not be the source of consciousness.”

As we said above , we know squat about the spiritual realm and have never given much thought to the idea of re-incarnation but the Professor’s concept of the brain being a kind of receiver for the soul to broadcast itself to the mortal world is a fascinating proposition and beckons the mind in a hundred different directions .

Is Gun Play OK?

” Jennifer L.W. Fink is the founder of BuildingBoys.net, a website that helps parents, educators, and communities build healthy boys. My house is littered with plastic weapons. The toy box contains light sabers and plastic guns. My teen’s closet looks like it’s home to an arsenal; in reality, his “arsenal” is a stash of Airsoft guns. My boys have spent hours jumping off the couch and running around in the woods, pretending to shoot one another. My boys are not psychopaths. (Well, not most of the time anyway!) They are not even particularly violent people. But they—like most American boys—love to play guns.

Does that fact make you uncomfortable? Many Americans are deeply uncomfortable with the idea of gun play, despite the fact that a generation ago, toy guns and holsters were considered appropriate birthday presents for young boys. But as mass shootings become more and more common, Americans’ discomfort with gun play has increased. We want the violence to stop, so we’ve passed strict zero tolerance policies that ban weapons at schools. The result? Seven-year-old boys are suspended from school for chewing pastries into gun shapes, kindergartners are required to write notes of apology after bringing tiny plastic weapons on the bus and seventh graders are suspended from school for a year for using Airsoft guns on private property.

While citizens and legislators debate the pros and cons of gun control, our boys are getting in trouble for gun play. In some places, playing guns is treated almost as severely as playing with guns.

But the research has never shown a link between gun play and a propensity for violence. Playing with toy guns does not increase the chances of your child shooting up a school. Did some school shooters play with pretend guns as children? Surely. But there’s a good chance that your pastor or your kid’s soccer coach played with toy guns too.”

Isn’t it peculiar that growing up in the 60’s and 70’s  , when every boy played with toy guns that we didn’t have the plague of violence that seems to be the way in today’s society ? The more risk-averse the nanny state would make us , the less capable we become of conducting ourselves in the real world .

Come to think about it , another difference between then and now is the fact that , not only did most boys of our generation play with toy guns , but we also were taught how to use and respect REAL guns . We didn’t go around trying to settle our disputes at the point of a gun, now did we ?

Was Chief Justice Roberts Blackmailed Into Supporting Obamacare?

” In 2012, Chief Justice John Roberts cast the deciding vote for the Supreme Court’s ruling that ObamaCare was a legal tax. Conservatives were beyond stunned. Roberts’ decision was a narrow, weaving, legal mess, unlike the clear, assured opinions he usually wrote. What the heck happened?

There were also some subterranean murmurings that the Obama administration was blackmailing Chief Justice Roberts. This was a bit far-fetched. We all knew that Obama habitually practiced a Chicago-approach to politics, one that saw him digging up secret dirt on his opponents, releasing it, and forcing them out of the election. For example, when Obama ran for the U.S. Senate in 2004, his opponent was the popular Jack Ryan. As the campaign progressed badly for Obama, secret court filings from Ryan’s divorce “miraculously” appeared with unproven allegations from his former wife about his sexual practices. The scandal hit the fan, Ryan dropped out of the race, and Obama ran essentially unopposed against Ryan’s replacement, Alan Keyes.

But what in the world could Obama have on Chief Justice Roberts?”

CNN Article Admits Gun Accidents Among Children Are Literally 1 In A Million

” CNN ran an article on the front page of its website today in which the topic of parents asking about guns prior to playdates and sleepovers.

The article said more parents are asking the question about gun ownership and storage before letting children go to a friend’s home.

What is surprising is that CNN actually admitted the following in the article.

Despite incidents such as the recent death of a 6-year-old New Jersey boy shot in the head by a 4-year-old playmate, as well as the accidental shooting of a Tennessee sheriff’s deputy’s wife by a 4-year-old boy, accidental firearms deaths are rare among children.

According to the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, 703 children under the age of 15 died in accidental firearms deaths between 2001 and 2010, the latest year for which the agency’s statistics on fatalities are available. During the same period, 7,766 children under the age of 14 suffered accidental firearms injuries — about one injury for every million children.

Injuries (note, that is injuries, not deaths) occur at a rate of around 1 in 1,000,000.”

Don’t Believe the Hype About “Dangerous” Christmas Toys

Welcome To The Season Of Bogus Scare Stories

” Of course, if it was just a few trial lawyers practicing the sky-is-falling business, the whole idea of super-dangerous toys wouldn’t have gone so viral. But the U.S. Public Interest Research Group also publishes an annual “Trouble in Toyland” survey—this year in its 27th iteration—making it seem like anyone who thinks toys are pretty safe is a soon-to-be-sorry sap.

Just like W.A.T.C.H., the survey warns about string: “Drawstrings on children’s clothing lead to deaths and injuries when they catch on playground equipment, bus doors or cribs.” How big a threat do drawstrings pose? “From January 1985 through June 1997, the CSPC [Consumer Product Safety Commission] received reports of 21 deaths,” says the report. That’s 21 deaths over the course of 12 years. Still, “CSPC recommends parents remove drawstrings from all children’s upper outerwear sized 2T to 12 and buy clothing with alternative closures, like snaps, buttons and Velcro.”

Let me repeat that recommendation: Remove the drawstrings on all children’s clothes up to age 12.”

Children Among 27 Dead In Shooting At Conn. Elementary School

” NEWTOWN, Conn. — At least 27 people were killed, including an unconfirmed number of children, in a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Friday, according to reports from Reuters and The Associated Press. If confirmed, it would be one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history. It comes after a series of shooting rampages in the United States this year that have killed multiple victims.

An entire classroom of students remains unaccounted for, according to a report by The Hartford Courant.

The suspected shooter, the father of a student there, was also killed, CBS News reported. The principal and school psychologist were among the dead, CNN said. “

Appalling , Just Appalling

Welcome to Hope and Change , where children are taught to be stool pigeons of the “state “ .

” The website NJ.com reports that one parent, Richard Goldberg of Marlboro, was appalled when he asked his 9-year-old twin sons about the exam and was told about the question, which required an essay. One of the boys wrote about breaking a ceiling fan and not telling his dad (presumably until now). The other wrote about the time Goldberg took them out of school on false pretenses for a day of skiing!

“All of a sudden,” Goldberg told reporters, “you have in a sense Big Brother checking out the secrets of families.” He added that the question has the potential to open up all manner of Pandora’s boxes. He asked, as a hypothetical, what action administrators might feel impelled to take it the secret divulged had to do with a criminal act. “

“The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land.
Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and
transporting of farm product raw materials.

“Prohibited places of employment,” a Department press release read, “would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed
lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.”

” The new regulations, first proposed August 31 by
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the government’s approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA , replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course. ”
Unf…ing Believable . And some people actually believe we don’t have enough government !
