Loretta Lynch Confirmed As New Attorney General — Here Are The 10 Republicans Who Voted For Her

” The Senate voted Thursday to confirm Loretta Lynch as the next attorney general, with the help of 10 Republicans who ignored complaints that Lynch would use her new position to support what many say is President Barack Obama’s unconstitutional immigration plan.

The Senate voted 56–43 in favor of Lynch, approving her with help of Sens. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), Thad Cochran (Miss.), Susan Collins (Maine), Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Orrin Hatch (Utah), Ron Johnson (Wis.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). “

A republican “majority” is worthless when made up of spineless RINOs such as these …

Senate Judiciary Committee Votes To Confirm Loretta Lynch As AG — Thanks To Three Republicans

” Because the GOP has a majority in the Senate, it also has a majority on all Senate committees — 12 to 9 in the case of the Judiciary Committee. But since Lynch’s confirmation has become a referendum on executive amnesty and the GOP is riddled with amnesty shills, there was no doubt that a few would cross over and vote with Democrats today to send her through to a floor vote of the entire Senate.

The three defectors: Jeff Flake and Lindsey Graham, both members of the Senate’s Gang of Eight on immigration, and Orrin Hatch, who sold himself as Mr. Conservative to Utah tea partiers in 2012 in order to avoid being primaried.

Democrats expressed dismay that Ms. Lynch, whose record they praised repeatedly, encountered so much opposition, especially since Republicans had cited virtually nothing objectionable in her background.

“ If anyone deserves a unanimous vote, she does,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.).

The committee vote means Ms. Lynch will likely be considered by the full Senate in the coming weeks. There, she will need to win the support of at least four Republicans to be confirmed, assuming all of the chamber’s 46 Democrats vote for her.”

Even Some West Wing Aides Want Holder To Resign

” Republicans have long been calling for Attorney General Eric Holder to resign.

But citing new controversies at the Justice Department, The New York Times reported Sunday that even some West Wing aides in President Barack Obama’s White House now want Holder gone.

“Over the course of four and a half years, no other member of President Obama’s cabinet has been at the center of so many polarizing episodes or the target of so much criticism,” the paper reported. “While the White House publicly backed Mr. Holder as he tried to smooth over the latest uproar amid new speculation about his future, some in the West Wing privately tell associates they wish he would step down, viewing him as politically maladroit.” “

Q&A On Scandals And Eric Holder

” Attorney General Eric Holder is head of the Department of Justice—in charge of enforcing the nation’s laws. So what happens when the head law enforcer gets caught up in questionable conduct?

The Obama Administration is under scrutiny for the scandals of the IRS targeting conservative groups and the Justice Department investigating journalists, and Holder’s role is the focus of a lot of speculation. We sat down with Heritage senior legal fellow Hans von Spakovsky to get some context.

A number of news organizations including the Associated Press, CNN, and The New York Times just refused to meet with Eric Holder “off the record” about guidelines for investigating journalists. Have we even begun to get to the bottom of this?”

End Of The Line For Holder?

” Attorney General Eric Holder may have lied in testimony given to Congress given earlier this month. Even if it was not under oath, the offense would be a felony subject to a maximum of five years in prison. The exchange actually happened with Hank Johnson (he of “imagine a world without balloons” and other greatest gaffe hits). This is what the memory-challenged AG had to say:

First of all you’ve got a long way to go to try to prosecute the press for publication of material. This has not fared well in American history… In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy.

You see, Eric Holder is the kind of guy who remembers with fine detail what he did do to cover his behind, but when it comes to the actual main components of the scandal at hand, he just don’t know.

If it turns out that Holder lied to Congress when he said the prosecution of the press for publication of material “is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of,” the habitual line-stepper will be in career-ender kind of hot water. And it couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy; Holder has pulled off more improbable escapes than Harry Houdini.”

Official: Holder Approved Warrant For Fox News Reporter’s Emails

” A law enforcement official has told NBC News that Attorney General Eric Holder is the one who signed the search warrant for the private emails of Fox News reporter James Rosen. The warrant was signed under the guise that Rosen might be a “possible co-conspirator” in violation of the Espionage Act.”

HOLDER BEGS COURT TO STOP DOCUMENT RELEASE ON FAST AND FURIOUS

” Attorney General Eric Holder and his Department of Justice have asked a federal court to indefinitely delay a lawsuit brought by watchdog group Judicial Watch. The lawsuit seeks the enforcement of open records requests relating to Operation Fast and Furious, as required by law.

Judicial Watch had filed, on June 22, 2012, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking all documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious and “specifically [a]ll records subject to the claim of executive privilege invoked by President Barack Obama on or about June 20, 2012.”

The only justification Holder uses to ask the court to indefinitely delay Judicial Watch’s suit is that there’s another lawsuit ongoing for the same documents – one filed by the U.S. House of Representatives. Judicial Watch has filed a brief opposing the DOJ’s motion to stay.”

Eric Holder in ‘Treading Water’ by Artist Katherine Trunk

(via http://www.thebrennerbrief.com)

Artist Katherine Trunk created “Treading Water” – a stylized portrait of Attorney General Eric Holder. Recent events of this past week in May have provided AG Holder many opportunities to appear before the public and render an account for actions, which seem reminiscent of Watergate. Government Obtains Wide Set Of Associated Press Phone records In Investigation, Using Subpoena

” The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative’s top executive called a “massive and unprecedented intrusion” into how news organizations gather the news.

In all, the government seized the records for more than 20 separate telephone lines assigned to AP and its journalists in April and May of 2012. The exact number of journalists who used the phone lines during that period is unknown, but more than 100 journalists work in the offices where phone records were targeted, on a wide array of stories about government and other matters.

In a letter of protest sent to Attorney General Eric Holder on Monday, AP President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Pruitt said the government sought and obtained information far beyond anything that could be justified by any specific investigation. He demanded the return of the phone records and destruction of all copies.

The government would not say why it sought the records. Officials have previously said in public testimony that the U.S. attorney in Washington is conducting a criminal investigation into who may have provided information contained in a May 7, 2012, AP story about a foiled terror plot. The story disclosed details of a CIA operation in Yemen that stopped an al-Qaida plot in the spring of 2012 to detonate a bomb on an airplane bound for the United States.”

Holder Threatens Kansas Over New Gun Law

” Kansas Governor Sam Brownback received a letter today from Attorney General Eric Holder threatening action against the state should it enforce SB102, the pro 2nd Amendment law Brownback signed into law last month.

The new law declares that the federal government has no power to regulate guns manufactured, sold and kept only in Kansas.

Any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the government of the United States which violates the second amendment to the constitution of the United States is null, void and unenforceable in the state of Kansas.

The legislation made it a felony for a federal agent to enforce any law, regulation, order or treaty regulating  ammunition made, sold and kept in the state because the federal government does not “interstate commerce” authority over such items.

The law became effective only a week ago, but already Holder has leapt into action, firing off a letter to the governor of Kansas threatening to take “all appropriate action including litigation if necessary” to prevent the state of Kansas from protecting the 2nd Amendment. (Amazing for a guy who didn’t even know about his own department’s gun-running operation, Fast and Furious until months after a border patrol agent was killed by one of its guns.) But when a state passes a law he doesn’t like – this Attorney General is FAST!

Eric Holder’s Schedule: Frequent Meetings With Race-Based Groups

” Attorney General Eric Holder began his tenure by calling Americans cowards regarding racial issues. Newly released documents reveal that Holder’s schedule shows a preoccupation with racial issues: he spends an inordinate amount of time meeting with race-centered organizations.

Recently, the Department of Justice began making Holder’s daily schedules available online. Although the schedules are far from complete and heavily redacted, the compiled summary below (links to documents provided) shows how much time and access the office of the attorney general allocates to ethnocentric lobbyists and race-based associations.

For 2009, Holder’s first year as AG, over just a nine-month period (the only months available for that year) nearly 50 entries mention meetings with such groups. For the entire 17-month period provided, there are almost a dozen entries showing meetings with “black” professional associations and trade groups.”

Secret Service Accused Of Misconduct In Aaron Swartz Case

” The former girlfriend of computer hacker Aaron Swartz is lashing out at the US Justice Department after Attorney General Eric Holder defended the prosecution that some say drove the prodigy into committing suicide.

Swartz took his own life in January while waiting to stand trial in a federal computer fraud case that could have ended with him serving upwards of 35 years in prison. Earlier this week, Attorney General Holder said the suicide was a“tragedy” but that the prosecution was indeed by the books.

“Eric Holder and the Department of Justice are clearly trying to mislead the Senate and the public,” she says. “Holder claims that Aaron was only facing months in prison while [Assistant US Attorney Stephen] Heymann and [US Attorney Carmen] Ortiz were actively pursuing a penalty of seven years if the case went to trial. If you believe you’re innocent, you should not be coerced into accepting a plea bargain that marks you as a felon for life, just because prosecutors want to boast about taking a scalp.” “

Victory For Rand Paul (And The Constitution)

A Victory For Us All

Holder Drone Letter

” Attorney General Eric Holder wrote Sen. Rand Paul,R-Ky., to confirm that President Obama does not have the authority to kill an American on U.S. soil in a non-combat situation, Obama’s spokesman announced today.

There, that wasn’t so difficult, was it?

Meanwhile, understandably angry at seeing the Republican Party emerge from its four year defensive crouch–behind Tea Party conservatives no less!– Senators McCain and Graham proferred this mature advice:

McCain, a staunch foreign policy hawk, said Thursday that Paul’s warnings that the U.S. could target “Jane Fonda” or “people in cafes” bring the debate into the “realm of the ridiculous.”

Reid Linked To $600,000 Bribery Scandal

Harry Reid The Bird

” Embattled St. George businessman Jeremy Johnson says new Utah Attorney General John Swallow helped broker a deal in 2010 in which Johnson believed he was to pay Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid $600,000 to make a federal investigation into Johnson’s company go away . ”

As TownHall Says :

” Certainly the allegations could be false, but it’s worth noting this isn’t the first time Reid’s name has come up in connection with some pretty shady propositions.  Remember the lucrative, underpriced land deal?  Or the green energy conflict? There’s so much there, pithily summed up by Investors Business Daily as follows:

. . .shadowy years he ran the Nevada Gaming Commission, through his public embarrassment over the Los Angeles Times investigation into his son and son-in-law’s Washington lobbying activities, the ethics investigation into the free tickets Reid happily accepted to boxing matches and the successful land development deal that ended up netting Reid $1 million when he sold it, in an amazing coincidence, to a friend and it became a shopping center. “

But These Are Not The First Allegations Of Wrongdoing Leveled Against “Dirty Harry”

” A new report released today by the group 1001 Reasons to Vote Against Harry Reid shows that Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) has either steered or is attempting to steer a total of $3,360,000 in earmarked Defense Department contracts to a campaign contributor, despite President Obama’s direct opposition to the project.

The company on the receiving end of the funds, Arcata Associates, is a small privately-held defense contractor headquartered in Las Vegas, NV. The first earmark, already signed into law, occurred in FY2010 and was worth $1,360,000. The second, still under consideration, is slated to come during FY2011 and would cost $2,000,000. Both allocations use the Senate Defense Appropriations Bill. “

And How Does Someone Who Has Collected A Taxpayer Funded Salary For Over 40 Years Amass A Net Worth Of Between 4 and 6 Million Dollars

” Right now, as Senate Majority Leader, Reid earns $193,400.00 per year – a back-bencher earns $174,000.00.

Reid has been earning that 193 grand for a few years, but when he first entered the Senate in 1987, I think the Senate salary was about $125,000.00 per year. In order to build up $4.6 million dollars over the past 43 years, Reid would have had to sock aside – out of various government salaries – nearly $107,000.00 per year.

Does anyone want to believe that Reid has done this? That he has saved his government-salary pennies (including for all those years when he made far less than even $107,000.00 per year) and built up his fortune just out of the money we know he’s been earning since he entered public office? And what if Reid’s fortune is actually closer to the higher estimate of $6.3 million?

It’s just not credible that Reid has done this just out of his government salary. The man has raised 5 kids, through college. His various government salaries were enough to live on but how, with all the expenses, did Reid build up so much money? What did he do? How did he do it?

How does a man who’s “product” is legislation make so much money that he can build up more than four and a half million dollars of net worth? ”

Can You Save Over Half Of Your Annual Salary Every Year ? For 43 Consecutive Years ?

” Its small wonder that Reid believes in the power of government to make things good. They’ve certainly made things good for him. He’s risen from the son of a hard-rock miner to a fabulously wealthy Senate Majority Leader. Being in government, for Reid, has been like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He hasn’t had to work for money, but he’s managed to acquire quite a lot of it.

But is this what we want? Do we want people who enter politics poor and leave it very rich? Nothing wrong with a poor man being in government. Nothing wrong with being a rich man in government. But to start poor and end rich while never doing anything in the private sector is a clear indicator of trading on one’s position.

And this is why Reid wants so desperately to remain in power – because it’s all he’s got.

The whole of Reid’s position in life has been built on his government office. Wealth, power and prestige, for Reid, are dependent upon his remaining in office. To lose office is to lose the ability to, say, build up another four million dollars. It’s not like Reid has any marketable skills for the private sector – even his skill as a lawyer is probably rusty as he hasn’t done any real legal practice since the 1960′s. ”

In Addition To Illegal Financial Gain There Have Also Been Numerous Allegations Of Election Fraud

” Votes without voters – the notion seems like something from “The Twilight Zone.” Yet this outcome, the result of a mysterious computer glitch, may have helped re-elect Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid over his Republican challenger, Sharron Angle, last week by a 50.2%-44.6% margin. Actually, the “mystery” is very likely the doing of a local of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which nationwide provides votes, money and muscle for the Democratic Party. Critics are charging thatvoting machines throughout Clark County (Las Vegas), where about three-fourths of Nevada’s population resides, were rigged to place check marks next to Reid’s name before a person even had voted. County officials insist that no tampering occurred. But the possibility can’t be dismissed, especially given that one of Reid’s sons is county commission chairman. “

Update : How Could We Have Forgotten Those Unaddressed Rumors Of Pederasty

David Gregory’s Stunt Worked!

” NBC News and David Gregory are in the clear: District of Columbia Attorney General Irvin Nathan has declared that he will not proceed with prosecution of the “Meet the Press” host for brandishing a 30-round gun magazine on the Dec. 23 edition of the program. Magazines exceeding a capacity of 10 rounds are illegal in the District.

A telling portion of Nathan’s letter on the Gregory issue scolds NBC News for a “feeble and unsatisfactory” effort at determining whether showing the high-capacity clip on air would comply with D.C. laws. Reports have circulated that NBC News got conflicting information on the legality, another consideration referenced in Nathan’s letter: “Although there appears to have been some misinformation provided initially, NBC was clearly and timely advised by an MPD employee that its plans to exhibit on the broadcast a high capacity-magazine would violate D.C. law, and there was no contrary advice from any federal official.”

So , faced with a very clear warning that they would be breaking the law , Gregory and NBC chose to do so anyway and now the Metro DC police , despite a flagrant violation of their warning AND THE LAW are going to let them off the hook . How on earth can any of these a**holes in positions of power expect  us ” little people ” to respect their capricious and arbitrary enforcement of two sets of legal standards ? Either a law was broken and someone should be penalized or the law is ridiculous on it’s face and no one should be prosecuted . What happened to the rule of law ?

And to think that these same statists are about to top their record setting power-grab that is Obamacare with an attempt to steal one of our God-given rights , the right to self-defense . The Sixties civil disobedience was nothing compared to what’s coming . Stock up folks , things are going to get mighty ugly . We are on the road to revolution and it seems as if we’ve passed the last turn-off .

To be so blatant in their disregard of the very laws they shove down our throats further demonstrates the ruling class’s complete disdain for us the ” great unwashed “. A clearer example of their arrogance , we can’t envision .

They’re At It Again … To be expected considering that Eric Holder failed to do anything about it last time . Thuggish is as thuggish does … Remember this crowd is voting for ” REVENGE ” .

“Issa said the report went “up the chain to show what went wrong all the way to the very top of Justice,” revealing operational failures, mismanagement, and misleading statements from the Phoenix office of the ATF to the Attorney General’s inner circle. Issa was not satisfied with the resignation of Deputy
Assistant Attorney General Jason
Weinstein, saying that “certainly the
cover-up goes further.” Describing his visit with slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s family yesterday, Issa said the wanted answers about how the Operation Fast and Furious debacle was conceived and executed, but “they also want answers about the cover-up, where for ten months the American
people were told that they don’t let
guns ‘walk.’ Those false statements
came from Justice, all the way to the
very top, including Lanny Breuer, and ultimately Eric Holder.” “

Thanks to John Hinderaker for pointing out the existence of this first rate , professional video that provides the viewer with a concise overview of the government-run travesty known , although not nearly widely enough , as “Fast & Furious” . Highly recommended , especially to the previously uninitiated . A perfect primer on the biggest presidential scandal in generations .

“This new video by American Future Fund, titled simply “Fast and Furious,” is an excellent, effective introduction to the scandal. Someone should spend a great deal of money to put it on television in all of the swing states:”

We couldn’t agree more thoroughly with John’s suggestion to make this into a major airtime purchase from now til November . Everyone needs to see this before they vote .

Are we seeing cracks in Holder’s stonewall

“The Department of Justice told Republican House leadership in a Tuesday letter that it hopes to reach an agreement with congressional overseers on how much information about Operation Fast and Furious it is required to hand over.

Congressional Republicans have threatened to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for not fully complying with a 22-part subpoena served last October.

The letter comes amid reports that House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa has obtained evidence proving that senior Justice Department officials approved Operation Fast and Furious gunwalking tactics “

This whole business of “Fast & Furious ” is a national disgrace .

“California Republican Rep. Tom McClintock has joined scores of his House colleagues in pushing for Attorney General Eric Holder to be held accountable for his role in Operation Fast and Furious.

McClintock’s signature on Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar’s official House resolution of “no confidence” in Holder over Fast and Furious makes him the 129th House member to demand Holder’s resignation, sign the resolution or both. Presumptive GOP presidential nominee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, three U.S. senators and two sitting governors join those members in demanding Holder’s removal from the Department of Justice because of Fast and Furious. “
