LAPD Fatal Shooting Of Man Caught On Tape

” Authorities said Sunday night that Los Angeles police fatally shot a man on skid row during a struggle over an officer’s weapons.

Police officials offered a detailed account of what they say prompted the Sunday morning shooting, which was captured on video by a bystander.

Cmdr. Andrew Smith said officers assigned to the LAPD’s Central Division and Safer Cities Initiative — a task force focused on skid row — responded to the location about noon Sunday after receiving a 911 call reporting a possible robbery.

Smith said the officers approached the man and made contact with him, at which point he “began fighting and physically resisting the officers.” The officers attempted to take him into custody and at one point, attempted to use a Taser that Smith said was “ineffective.”

The man continued to resist police, Smith said, and the man and some of the officers fell to the ground.

” At some point in there, a struggle over one of the officer’s weapons occurred,” Smith said. “At that point an officer-involved shooting happened.”

Two officers and a sergeant fired at the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Smith said. It was unclear how many times the officers fired, although at least five shots can be heard on the video recording that captured the shooting.

No other gun was recovered at the scene, Smith said. It was unclear if the man had any other weapons among his possessions — investigators were still combing the scene late Sunday night.

The man has been tentatively identified, but Smith said it was unclear if he was homeless.”

AIDS: Origin Of Pandemic ‘Was 1920s Kinshasa’

” The origin of the Aids pandemic has been traced to the 1920s in the city of Kinshasa, in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo, scientists say.

An international team of scientists say a “perfect storm” of population growth, sex and railways allowed HIV to spread.

A feat of viral archaeology was used to find the pandemic’s origin, the team report in the journal Science.

They used archived samples of HIV’s genetic code to trace its source, with evidence pointing to 1920s Kinshasa.

Their report says a roaring sex trade, rapid population growth and unsterilised needles used in health clinics probably spread the virus.

Meanwhile Belgium-backed railways had one million people flowing through the city each year, taking the virus to neighbouring regions.

Experts said it was a fascinating insight into the start of the pandemic.

HIV came to global attention in the 1980s and has infected nearly 75 million people.

It has a much longer history in Africa, but where the pandemic started has remained the source of considerable debate. “

The Latest WHO Update Shows The Ebola Epidemic Is Growing Deadlier

” The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a new update on the development of the worst Ebola epidemic in history.

Since the epidemic was first declared in July, cases of Ebola have been detected in five African countries, with widespread contagion in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone and isolated cases in Nigeria and Senegal. Thus far, Liberia is the country that’s been hit hardest: 0.05% of the population has contracted the virus, and 0.03% Liberians have died from it. “

CDC Director: Ebola Outbreak ‘Is Spiraling Out Of Control’

” The director for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention says that the Ebola outbreak is going to get worse.

Speaking to CBS This Morning following his trip to the West African countries dealing with the outbreak, Dr. Tom Frieden explained that they have to act now to try to get Ebola under control.

“ It is the world’s first Ebola epidemic and it is spiraling out of control. It’s bad now and it’s going to get worse in the very near future,” Frieden told CBS News. “There is still a window of opportunity to tamp it down, but that window is closing. We really have to act now.”

Frieden, who visited Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, will tell Washington tomorrow that the Ebola outbreak is “spiraling upward.” The CDC director explained that these countries still need help to deal with the deadly outbreak.”

Ebola Outbreak May Have Spread Out Of Africa And Into Europe

” The Ebola outbreak in Africa may have spread to Europe despite pandemic containment efforts. World Health Organization officials have been working diligently to contain the Ebola outbreak to West Africa, but their efforts may have failed.

A Reuters report on the Ebola outbreak claims that death toll statistics will no longer be released to the public to “avoid causing unnecessary panic.”

The virus has reportedly spread into seven countries in Africa. A report by Christian Relief groups working in both Liberia and Guinea maintain that the number of confirmed Ebola infection increased by 15 percent in just the past 24 hours.

Approximately four dozen migrant workers from the outbreak area came ashore, allegedly illegally, in Pisa, Italy. The workers are reportedly being isolated with symptom commonly associated with the Ebola virus. The migrant workers have reportedly presented with conjunctivitis, blood around the eye, and fever.”

How Erik Prince, Founder Of Blackwater, Will Help China Subjugate Africa

” China’s ongoing colonization of Africa represents yet another sad development in the continent’s tragic history. I briefly highlighted this topic once before in December 2012, via a “Guest Post” I suggest reading titled: Africa in the Crosshairs.

Unfortunately, Erik Prince of Blackwater infamy is now coming to town, which can only mean more pain, suffering and servitude for Africa.

Prince has logistics, aviation, manufacturing, resources and energy business interests in Africa, the Middle East and North America, and is the founder of Frontier Resource Group, a private equity firm active in African aviation, exploration, mining and logistics, DVN said. “

For the uninitiated the above video and accompanying text (see below) give an overview of Erik Prince , Blackwater and the controversy that seems to follow him wherever he goes .

Published on Jul 16, 2013

” Erik Dean Prince (born June 6, 1969) is an American businessman and former U.S. Navy SEAL, best known for founding the world’s largest private military company, Blackwater USA, in 1997. He served as its CEO until 2009 and later as chairman until Blackwater Worldwide was sold in 2010 to a group of investors. Prince currently lives in the United Arab Emirates.

Prince credits the Rwandan genocide with his decision to start Blackwater. He told an audience in his native Holland, Michigan, “It really bothered me. It made me realize you can’t sit back and pontificate. You have to act.”[14]

Since 1997, the firm has been awarded more than $1.6 billion in unclassified federal contracts and an unknown amount of classified work.[15] It became the largest of the State Department’s three private security companies, providing 987 guards for embassies and bases abroad.[16]

Since 2001, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has awarded up to $600 million in classified contracts to Blackwater and its affiliates.[17] The Barack Obama administration awarded the company a $120 million United States Department of State security contract and about $100 million in new CIA work in 2010.[15]

Prince takes great pride in the work Blackwater has done and points to its successes. According to him, out of 40,000 personal security missions, only 200 involved guards discharging their weapons. “No one under our care was ever killed or injured. We kept them safe, all the while we had 30 of our men killed.”[14]

Prince, according to Robert Young Pelton reportedly thinks of Blackwater’s relationship to the military as something similar to FedEx’s relationship to the U.S. Post Office “an efficient, privatized solution to sclerotic and wasteful government bureaucracy.”[18] He credits his father’s competitive streak in the automotive business with the inspiration to design a lighter, faster army.[19]

In recent years Blackwater has come under criticism, but Prince believes that much of this criticism stems from politics. “I put myself and my company at the CIA’s disposal for some very risky missions,” Prince told Vanity Fair for its January 2010 issue. “But when it became politically expedient to do so, someone threw me under the bus.”[20]

Prince resigned as CEO of Blackwater on March 2, 2009 and remained as chairman of the board until he sold the company in late 2010 to a group of investors.[21]
Disclosure as part of a covert CIA task force

Prince was part of a secret CIA task force created to kill terrorists. The House intelligence congressional committee leaked his name to the press.[22] Prince compared himself to the target of the similar government leak of Valerie Plame: “Valerie Plame’s identity was compromised for political reasons. A special prosecutor [was even] appointed. Well, what happened to me was worse. People acting for political reasons disclosed not only the existence of a very sensitive program but my name along with it.”

Academi—previously known as Xe Services LLC, Blackwater USA and Blackwater Worldwide—is a private military company founded in 1997 by Erik Prince and Al Clark. Academi is currently the largest of the U.S. State Department’s three private security contractors. Academi provided diplomatic security services in Iraq to the United States federal government on a contractual basis. Academi also has a research and development wing that was responsible for developing the Grizzly APC along with other military technology. The company’s headquarters is located in Arlington County, Virginia.

Angola Continues To Close Down Mosques, And Burns Qurans

Bulldozing A Mosque

” A recent report has come out saying that the Republic of Angola has closed down or destroyed most mosques in its country, and the crackdown continues.

There were 78 mosques in Angola, now they have been reduced to only a few, because most of them were closed down except the remaining number in the capital city of Luanda, and the only reason why they are still there is because of the world’s protest against the anti-Islamic policy.According to David Ja:

The mosques in Luanda were supposed to be closed yesterday but because of an international furor about reports that Angola had banned Islam, the government decided not to …So, at the moment, mosques in Luanda are open and people are going for prayers.

Also, according to Ja, the Angolan government began to shut down mosques in 2010, and they justified the measure by saying that Islam “was an invasion of Angolan culture and a threat to Christian values.”

And it most definitely is.”

And we can say that as long as the extremists continue to use mosques as safe houses , refuges , weapons depots and places to plan and facilitate the destruction of the western cultures they are political structures and not houses of worship and as such should be viewed with the same opinion one would have of a drug dealer’s home base or an enemy army’s headquarters .

The largely unspoken (by the western side anyway) war that rages between Islam and ALL non-believers is the Muslim’s own choice . No one is trying to subvert Islam or force their conversion to Christianity so as long as they engage in war on the infidel , us infidels had better be prepared to fight back . The most basic first step in this clash of civilizations is to take away the enemy’s safe havens .

As long as the adherents of Islam hide their martial intentions behind a cloak of piety they should be considered poseurs and recognized as the terrorists/cultural combatants that they are and be made to pay the price for their cowardly ways .

Angola ‘Bans Islam’, Dismantles Mosques, According To News Reports

” A number of news outlets have reported that Angola has “banned” Islam and started to dismantle mosques in a bold effort to stem the spread of Muslim extremism.

Angola is a majority-Christian nation of about 16 million people, an estimated 55 percent of whom are Catholic, 25 percent of whom belong to African Christian denominations, 10 percent of whom follow major Protestant traditions, 5 percent of whom belong to Brazilian Evangelical churches and where only between 80,000 and 90,000 people are Muslim, according to the U.S. State Department.

Weekly French-language Moroccan newspaper La Nouvelle Tribune published an article on Friday sourcing “several” Angolan officials, including the Southwest African nation’s minister of culture, Rosa Cruz, who reportedly offered the following remarks, which have been translated from French: “The process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, their mosques would be closed until further notice.”

OnIslam.net reports that the African economic news agency Agence Ecofin wrote that Cruz made the statement at an appearance last week before the 6th Commission of the National Assembly. The website goes on to note that, “According to several Angolan newspapers, Angola has become the first country in the world to ban Islam and Muslims, taking first measures by destroying mosques in the country.” “

This makes a lot of sense and no doubt will be seen as a very controversial move , especially by the atheistic Left . We can hear the moralizing already . To be fair though , there will probably be plenty of carping from our own libertarian side as well , but the way we see it , Islam is less a religion and more a political cult and thus unworthy of the basic protections on freedom of religion .

This is a surprising development and yet it makes perfect sense from a survival point of view and confirms what we were saying only the other day about the believers of Africa being the ones to strike the first blow for Christianity in the looming “Clash of Civilizations“. More power to Angola , let’s hope this spirit of self-preservation continues to spread .

Lunar Eclipse Friday: Where To See It

N/A

” A partial lunar eclipse will be visible Friday into Saturday night for those living from eastern Canada and the upper Northeast to Africa and most of Europe.

At 23:51 UTC, the fullest coverage of the moon by Earth’s shadow will occur, lasting for 239 minutes.

The eclipse will be most visible for the United States and Canada at 7:50 p.m. EDT. Due to the timing of the eclipse, the moonrise will not be high enough for western parts of North America to view; its peak will not reach so far west and will only be visible for Africa and Europe.”

Deserts ‘Greening’ From Rising Carbon Dioxide: Green Foliage Boosted Across The World’s Arid Regions

” Increased levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) have helped boost green foliage across the world’s arid regions over the past 30 years through a process called CO2 fertilisation, according to CSIRO research.

In findings based on satellite observations, CSIRO, in collaboration with the Australian National University (ANU), found that this CO2 fertilisation correlated with an 11 per cent increase in foliage cover from 1982-2010 across parts of the arid areas studied in Australia, North America, the Middle East and Africa, according to CSIRO research scientist, Dr Randall Donohue.

“In Australia, our native vegetation is superbly adapted to surviving in arid environments and it consequently uses water very efficiently,” Dr Donohue said. “Australian vegetation seems quite sensitive to CO2 fertilisation.”

White House Defends High Bills For Africa Trip

” The White House Friday defended the first family’s upcoming weeklong trip to Africa, which could cost taxpayers up to $100 million, as “great bang for our buck.”

“There will be a great bang for our buck for being in Africa because when you travel to regions like Africa that don’t get a lot of presidential attention, you tend to have very longstanding and long-running impact from the visit,” said Ben Rhodes, a deputy national security adviser to President Obama.

The excursion will involve military cargo planes airlifting 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines, and three trucks to carry bulletproof glass panels to cover the windows where the first family is set to stay. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship with a fully staffed medical trauma center will be stationed offshore in case of an emergency.

Fighter jets will fly in shifts to provide around-the-clock protection over the president’s airspace. The trip will reportedly involve hundreds of Secret Service agents.”

Michelle Obama Vacation Maven

” Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia are looking at an extended vacation on Martha’s Vineyard this summer, according to a report in The Boston Globe. The Globe might have something here – it’s almost a local Vineyard paper, after all.

According to The Globe the First Couple is looking at a house near Farm Neck, in Oak Bluffs, which they’ve visited in the past.  The particular house they’ve stayed in previously, Blue Heron Farm, “Up Island” in Chilmark, has since been sold. So that piece of real estate is probably out.

If Michelle and the kids do opt for a lengthy Vineyard stay it could become fodder for critics. First Family vacations are a fraught issue, as it’s easy to portray them as insensitive in some manner. The Vineyard is an expensive and exclusive area (as well as kind of Democratic – didn’t the Clintons go there?) so it’s likely that at some point some talk radio host will go after this plan as demeaning to US workers still suffering in a slowly recovering economy.”

Obama’s Liberated Libya is Now Al Qaeda’s HQ

” Obama’s overthrow of Gaddafi sure paid off. Not only has it made American diplomatic facilities in Libya more secure, but it has made the entire region a safer place.

“Libya has become AQIM’s headquarters,” says the intelligence source, adding that in just the last few weeks three new al Qaeda camps have opened in southern Libya.

The president of Chad, Idriss Déby, complained last week that Libya isn’t doing enough to prevent these fighters from using Libya as a training ground for new recruits, undermining security in the region. The Libyan government has denied the claims, saying there has been no influx of jihadists from Mali.”

Disgruntled militiamen in league with the Muslim Brotherhood last week applied a choke hold on the government by besieging key ministries in an effort to coerce approval of a measure that is likely to collapse of the government of Ali Zeidan, plunging Libya into even greater political turmoil and weakening Libya’s ability to battle jihadists.”

Surprising Lunar Eclipse Wows Skywatchers

” The moon toe-dipped through the Earth’s shadow in a partial lunar eclipse Thursday (April 25), but stargazers around the world still captured surprisingly spectacular views of what they expected to be a minor celestial event.

Partial lunar eclipses like Thursday’s event occasionally receive a bad rap because they aren’t nearly as dramatic as the red glow of the moon during a total lunar eclipse, and some times they aren’t even noticeable. That, however, wasn’t the case last night.

A live webcast from a telescope in Dubai and hosted by the online Slooh Space Camera streamed amazing views of the lunar eclipse at its peak around 4 p.m. EDT (2000 GMT). The lunar eclipse’s entirety was primarily visible from Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Western Europe, so stargazers in other parts of the world had to rely on webcasts like those provided by Slooh and the Virtual Telescope Project in Italy to catch the event.”

Canary Island Town Finds 22-foot Wasp Nest And Millions Of Wasps

” A home in the Spanish town of San Sebastián de La Gomera in the Canary Islands has locals buzzing. The abandoned home had thousands of wasps swarming out from it and when police investigated they were stung to find a wasp nest of biblical proportions.

The nest was in the hallway and officers said it measured 21 feet, 9 inches long (some 7 plus metres). The local bee experts police called in estimated that there were millions – yes, millions – of wasps living there.”

” Tonight the second Presidential Debate will take place.  Overshadowing this debate there is one huge issue that must be addressed.  No, that issue is not how CNN and Candy Crowley will try to do their best to help Obama.  The issue is Libya.  That part is easy.

What is the shocking part of that story that will not be covered in the debate or by the media?

A significant part of that debate should include questions about why the Obama Regime felt the need to lie about Benghazi.  Why did the Obama Regime feel the need to attack the First Amendment by blaming a video instead of attacking the real cause of the violence, radical Islam?

or America, there is another bigger problem coming from Libya.  Obama is desperate to try and be reelected.  So what is he going to do?

He is going to launch military actions in Africa to go after those who attacked our Ambassador and our consulate.

That’s a great idea but there are just a few problems.

First, we still have no clue as to who the attackers were.  We have named some names, but that is it.

We have no real clue as to who to attack. “
